  1. It's being transparent and telling the truth. What they're doing right now is bad form - and I can't imagine anyone is happy with it.
  2. It's obvious by now that he's not going to retire with that much money left on the table.
  3. It's really up to the O's to buy him out. Just include a Covid clause to subject him to the same pro rata reduction that everyone else gets. If they've tried to do it, and he's refused, then let the fans know.
  4. Houston intentionally blocked prospects with players like Smith and Davis and LeBlanc?
  5. We chose Smith over Yaz. Ouch. Tbh, I might have done the same thing, but I'm not paid, consulted, or even given a warm beer.
  6. He has that rare ability to keep our mind off the game while calling the game.
  7. Exactly - except for the Almost. It seems somewhat arrogant for management not to care and still expect the players and everyone else associated with the team to care - not to mention... the fans. That would be us, btw, for those trying to follow along at home.
  8. Yeah, I like Mullins more than most here do, but 14 at bats just might be too small a sample size to base anything on, and the 27 at bats were kind of just meh. But you're right - we'll see.
  9. Third row, 32nd to the left. The guy with the Goodyear hat.
  10. That's what I've always thought, but it hasn't begun to happen in Baltimore.
  11. Every one. And with varying amounts of people watching.
  12. Yes, that's because you can only learn to play LF in major league parks.
  13. Well who'd a thunk that catchers generally take more time to develop than say... outfielders?
  14. It's certainly not criminal to give Davis the error. It was a nice stop by him - but that was not a hard play for an average 1st baseman - his lack of range made it look much harder than it was. And he had plenty of time to throw - since he was in and the ball was hard hit. He didn't have to throw it with his feet in the air. Should Severino have caught that - Yes, but that was a bad throw by Davis.
  15. Probably the toughest player on the roster to lose. But maybe it's for the best - even if we "fall out of contention" in these next 10 days. It'd be nice to see him at close to 100% when he comes back. The quad was obviously limiting him.
  16. And now you're going to list catchers that developed early - without realizing you're only listing HOFers to make your point. Right?
  17. We've gone around on this before, but I've rarely seen a catcher develop early.
  18. No. There are some similarities between the 2, but catchers generally develop slower, and Parra was a bit older than Severino is when the O's acquired him. He was also dramatically deteriorating defensively when the O's got him. He had previously been a mediocre hitter known for his good fielding. When a 28/29 year old OFer has a major deterioration in his defense like Parra did, ya gotta figure he's not a player you should go after. Is Severino going to continue OPSing 1.1? Obviously not. But I think he's developed into a solid starting catcher at 26, and that's more valuable than a 28/29 declining corner OFer.
  19. You must have been in a different part of the army than my father. He always used a red pen on maps to draw out routes. I'm pretty sure nobody called him a 4 year old girl - regardless of what colors he chose.
  20. Yeah, if the O's were looking to get a player who's most similar to Chris Davis, it'd be Logan Morrison (just without the contract).
  21. Nats go into the bottom of the 9th up 6-3 on the injury depleted Braves. FP Santangelo is all giddy on the broadcast - with all his boys having a good game, and WS closer Hudson on the mound. Boom, Adam Duvall hits a 2 run homer with no outs, and it's 6-5. Hudson's fastball at 96 - 97 every time easily gets the 7th and 8th batters. He allows the next batter on 1st and up comes Dansby Swanson. Hits a fly ball to dead center - way over the fence. You can hear the shock and awww in Dansby's voice. Braves win.
  22. Thank you Boog. And Happy Birthday! Btw, why does he go by Boog instead of John?
