  1. So he makes up for his poor defense with poor offense that looks good to baseball fans over 80.
  2. I'm not a Turgeon guy, but I completely agree with you re MD fans. Turgeon is a good solid defensive coach, but he's an awful offensive coach. The better college teams run well and shoot well. Turge typically has a very slow-paced offense even when he has the better athletes, and the offense has lacked PGs who can actually run the offense. He's always recruited scoring type PG's - rather than passers. And look at the 2 PGs he recruited last year - neither of them got off the bench, for the most part. He was always a good recruiter, but now that seems to be tailing off. Turgeon does a solid job during the regular season, but he almost always hits a wall early in the postseason. Still, anyone who thought this Terps team should have beaten Alabama... I've got some beachfront property in Louisiana to sell you. The problem this year was he didn't recruit anyone to replace Stix.
  3. But wouldn't they have said something by now if it was an injury? Seems like something's up here. Or... the O's management just doesn't care enough to keep the remaining fans updated.
  4. If Hays and Mountcastle stay healthy - the skies the limit... I'm talking 70 plus wins!
  5. Yeah... I'm not sure that second part follows the first part.
  6. That's a great deal in Sirius and a lesson to everyone - they will make deals with you - don't pay their list price.
  7. I'd listen while eating Arby's curly fries and a Jamocha shake, gawd luvya. He'd get on my nerves after a while, but he was truly a pioneer on WMAL back in the day. I think Phil Wood hated his guts - probably for good reason - but there was no denying Beatrice's success. I'm one of the 10 DC listeners - probably won't make much difference - I get 980 and 630 about the same. I doubt 630 gives them any more coverage with pre or post-game shows, because they have basically the same listeners.
  8. Fwiw, my 88 year old Mom and 89 year old Dad (not competing) got their 2nd shots a month ago - no problems. Gotta figure out what do do for their up-coming 70th anniversary.
  9. But the Nats have been very successful in slow-playing phenoms Harper, Strassburg, Trae Turner, Rendon, and Juan Soto. Well actually, they didn't do that with any of them, and they all helped them win zillions of games while quickly developing into outstanding players. Who'dathunkit?
  10. It's nice to have hope, but anyone expecting much from Hernandez at this point - I have some great beachfront property in Louisiana to sell you.
  11. I hope there's a 2nd year team option if the O's really do sign Franco. He's the kind of player who could make a big jump forward - like Iglesias did - and could develop some decent trade value. Physically, he reminds me of Marcel Ozuna - who also improved dramatically last year, and he used to be considered one of the top prospects in baseball.
  12. I agree with you, but in this particular case - I don't think it's a bad thing.
  13. What's the point of making that argument? He's the consensus #2 prospect in baseball. And of course the O's are committed to his success - as they should be.
  14. At least last season they could use bubble wrap.
  15. If I thought about it in time, I might have said there'd be no need for them to hold the Mayo. Really? No, Riley.
  16. Now that the Braves are rumored contenders for Franco, that opens up another possibility for the Orioles. Getting Franco - or someone like him - would basically mean the Braves have given up on 23 year old former phenom Austin Riley. And the O's have infield prospects they could possibly trade to get him (but don't let Gunnar go).
  17. Correct. There's far less emotion - and he lasted longer than expected. It works out real well, because the Braves have a bunch of impressive young OFers they can plug in, and they have to use Ozuna in LF now that it appears certain that the NL will not have a DH. Acuna slides over to RF, and Pache takes CF. Next up is Drew Waters, and after him comes Michael Harris. And they still have Inciarte.
  18. I'll mention my old standby, Johan Camargo. He's gone way downhill since going to the Braves bench 2 years ago, and he needs an attitude adjustment, but he's a talented 27 year old infielder. Braves even got Panda as 3rd base insurance along with a couple of veteran backup middle infielders , so it wouldn't be a surprise if Camargo doesn't make the team.
  19. Servideo, Henderson, Haskin, and Baumler.
  20. There's no way Baltimore is behind Atlanta in this one stat. Granted, I've only been to a couple Braves games, but I'd guess the average O's and Ravens fan drinks at least twice the volume of beer that Braves and Falcons fans drink.
  21. Wow, Franco must be a terrible defensive player - since Schoop was very much lacking in range with the O's - though was great at hanging in on DP's and strong-armed.
  22. Is it fair to call Franco basically the 3rd baseman version of Jonathan Schoop?
