  1. Not Matusz. Didn't play in the majors in 2017. So we've got Wieters, Hernandez, Koji, and Tillman. Struggling on the fifth.
  2. I don't think he's officially retired yet. From what I can tell he's leaning toward it, though, especially if he only gets minor-league offers. To semi-answer Frobby's question, Matt Wieters, David Hernandez, and Koji are three.
  3. David Hernandez signed a 2-year deal with the Reds: http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/22266222/cincinnati-reds-sign-reliever-david-hernandez-2-year-deal
  4. Do you think people appreciate you calling them "not very intelligent" and questioning their ability to read? Think more carefully about your choice of words next time.
  5. What difference does it make if it's the first move, the last move, or somewhere in between? What aren't you understanding about this? Literally every team makes minor league signings. There will be plenty more Ryan O'Rourke types of signings all around baseball. There have been no major league FA signings anywhere in the majors yet as far as I'm aware. And please, enough with insulting people's intelligence, especially if you can't distinguish "your" from "you're."
  6. Why do minor league signings "add to the despair"? Every team makes these kinds of signings, as most of us realize. The Orioles never claimed this was a big move. They never said, "Perfect, we've got O'Rourke in the fold. Now we can pack it in for the winter." No big-name free agents have signed anywhere. The only signings happening right now are minor league guys. There's going to be plenty more to come, for the Orioles and every other team.
  7. You can't put the Cardinals and Cubs in different divisions. That's akin to splitting up the Yankees and Red Sox. I'd say switch the Cardinals with the Rockies or Reds.
  8. I think you're right. But if that's the case, why call him up this week? The Orioles are facing a RHP in Gray today, then going to Cleveland, which doesn't have any lefty starters. So the earliest they might face a left-handed starter again is the series in Toronto next Monday-Wednesday if Happ or Anderson starts. So if Hays isn't going to play against righties, why didn't the Orioles just let him stay in Bowie for the playoffs through Sunday before calling him up? Do the Orioles need him off the bench that badly for the next four games? EDIT: Just saw FlipTheBird's post above about Hays being a pinch hitter against lefties. I guess that's possible, but the only starter the O's would pinch-hit for against a southpaw is Smith. So that's a very limited role that might not even come up in the next few games.
  9. If the Marlins somehow sneak into a wild card spot, I think Stanton would be the front-runner for MVP.
  10. Here's my story from Monday about where the 2016 Orioles who left the organization ended up: http://www.baltimorebaseball.com/2017/04/17/now-taking-look-2016-orioles-flown-nest/
  11. So it's just a prediction, not news?
  12. For whom? I don't see anything about Price having TJ.
  13. Enough with the conspiracy theories. Sometimes threads on similar topics get merged. When that happens, whoever posted the earlier thread is listed as the thread starter. That's how the forum platform is designed. Also, as far as I know, nobody gets bonus points for starting a popular thread, so I'm not sure what you mean by "credit." In the future, if you have any questions about the platform or moderation, please PM the moderators.
  14. This is a joke, right? They've played 10 games.
  15. No, there is no chance. He's never pitched above Single-A ball. He's not even in major league camp (aside from when the O's borrow some players from minor league camp).
  16. By letting him walk away to Toronto? How is that selling high, or selling at all?
  17. Are you confusing Zach Davies with someone else? He has never been called up by the Orioles or pitched in the majors. You may be thinking of Tyler Wilson or Mike Wright.
  18. Now that the Zach Davies for Gerardo Parra trade is agreed upon (pending physicals), let's get your opinion on the record.
  19. Worse than the Glenn Davis trade? Seriously? As Drungo pointed out, the guys the O's gave up in the Davis trade combined for a career fWAR of 137.9. So if Eduardo Rodriguez single-handedly compiles a career WAR of 138 or more, we'll talk. Until then, nothing will top the horribleness of the Glenn Davis trade anytime soon.
  20. Only twice for Cone -- '92 and '95. In '92 he was traded to the Blue Jays, who won the World Series. In '95 he was traded to Buck Showalter's Yankees, who were eliminated in the ALDS.
  21. I guess Reimold doesn't have enough grit for Kirk Gibson.
  22. And also, some of those teams may only have a chance to make it as a wild card team rather than a division winner, and a wild card team has much worse odds to win the WS because they have to get through the Wild Card Game. But even if you wanted to assume all 10 playoff teams have a 1 in 10 chance of winning the WS, you'd take their odds of making the playoffs and divide that by 10 to find their probability of winning the WS. So a team like Boston that has a 0.1% chance of making the playoffs would only have a 0.01% chance of winning the WS--which would be rounded down to zero.
  23. How could we forget? You bring it up in every thread, including those that are only tangentially related. Also, there's no way Hader is a more highly rated prospect than Appel. What publication are you citing that from?
  24. I'm not sure I follow. Why would he get better pitches to hit batting seventh as opposed to fifth?
