Eh. He was statistically the worst hitter in baseball after April last year, and he was still a .750 ops vs lefties. This year his splits are even more pronounced (tho he’s been barely exposed to righties). He and Urias are actually a pretty solid platoon given their splits (and Urias reverse splits). If we use him properly (defensive replacement, pinch runner and only start va lefties), then he can absolutely add tons of value for the team.

    ironically, I say this on a day he’s starting against a righty…

But we don't platoon them and obviously our analytics department doesn't believe in reverse splits

  2. You bring him up, find a way to play him. Give one day off a week to Santander, Mullins, Cowser, O'hearn and Mountcastle. If they are not planning to keep Santander after this year, you gotta see what you got in guys like Heston and Stowers. It bugs me more seeing both Urias and Mateo starting. They should have brought up Mayo or Norby instead of McKenna and gave them some action.

I expect we’ll prefer right handed relievers vs left given we have more depth with the latter.

Thanks for this. Bring Harvey back home?

  4. Look at these teams and don't look for cheap arms with alot of control. They won't trade them. Look for older, expensive vets or people about to hit free agency. Try to remember our teams from a few years ago. What bullpen arms on these teams fit this description?

It’s almost like he’s following the same pattern he did last year and will probably end up being the same 20% above league average hitter that he has been for the last few seasons. Tonight, he also had what appeared to be a nice catch based on where he was positioned, though I haven’t looked for the catch probability. I love conclusions made based on 10 or so games.

Does that mean he will stink again in October?
