I agree with your long term observation. But I'm not sure Elias is going to DFA any of those pitchers, each of which is likely to eat some innings this season.
I didn't get to watch the game last night but saw the highlight. The O's were down 7-0 at that point. Was he just trying to bunt because the O's needed baserunners?
I didn't think it bothered CoC. He merely changed "dead horse" to "deceased equines" to clarify something. Going back and reading the exchanges, you seemed a lot more offended than you're letting on that he made that clarification.
Who was the player who was fast but seemed to keep running until he scored or was tagged out? Was that Luis Mercedes?
Is there anyplace that shows Mateo's sprint speed on the play?
It would seem to me that it's easier to get a short term #1 ranking for your farm system than it is to build a top 5-10 system that feeds a contending ML team for the long term.
Oh... and dead-horse-beating alert. Elias has to show that he can draft/acquire/develop pitching.
Will a WS contender like the Dodgers really be willing to hand over a starting SS job to someone like Ortiz who has never spent a single day in the major leagues?
