I think he’d rather sign a minor league contract with a team that has less outfield talent and depth than the Orioles.

I think it's getting more likely we see Mayo as a Santander replacement next year with Kjerstad getting traded for pitching help when trade season heats up.
I’ve been for this since the off season. How many games has he played in the outfield for Norfolk? Zero. It’s like when Duquette was forcing Mountcastle to play 3B.

Well nothing compares to the line in Dirty Harry where the bank robber is laying on the ground and says to Harry, “I gots to know.”

I fully admit that my concerns are based entirely on game recaps and scouting reports. I’ve only seen him live a couple of times. But I’ve yet to see a glowing review of his defense on the infield dirt. But, the bat could be huge and they have to find room for him. Given the big arm, I “think” RF is a good choice.

I'm a Mountcastle fan, but I've been advocating for a move to 1B by Basallo for months, so I'd love that lineup. Having said that, I still have doubts about Mayo's defense at 3rd, or 1st for that matter.

Is he regressing yet?

Nice article discussing the same dilemmas we discuss here everyday: how to utilize all this talent.
He made me look up “tatterdemalion.”

Kimbrel will get $13 million chances.

Means was great and he did what a good pitcher should do against a weak lineup. But, boy do the Cincy hitters generally suck! I've never seen a team put up a lineup with so many sub .220 and even .200 hitters.

I still believe Mayo would be best used by the Orioles in RF.

I think the Orioles are the more well rounded team. Better defense, a lineup that’s deeper 1-9, better base running and when Rodriguez returns, a very good rotation that will force some good starters into the bullpen. For now, at least, the O’s are a better team.

It’s a shame he’s slumping like Mountcastle…. Oh, wait, never mind.

I'm pretty sure that the fan opinion doesn't drive most or maybe not any of their decisions. But I am certain that somebody who is high up in the Orioles decision making matrix is concerned about the satisfaction of their customers.
I don't think that the 99% of fans who watch or go to games are nearly as concerned about the roster mechanations as the average Hangouter. Most were thrilled with 1st place (where we are right now too) in 2023. Doesn't mean we're wrong, just that we make up a very small minority of Orioles fans.

I like our chances in games 2 and 3.
You don’t trust Rodriguez and Bradish?

Means pitched 7 innings of shutout ball yesterday and his rehab assignment is up. Whether he's "ready" or not, a decision needs to be made. Based on his performance yesterday I'd say he's about as ready as he's going to be.
Yup. Means will be up for the Cincinnati series.

Wells isn’t even throwing yet.

Assuming they can make a case that he's injured.
Not being good isn't justification for an IL stint.
You sure love IL conspiracy theories.

I’d rather start Hays tomorrow vs DL Hall than tonight vs Peralta.

Does Campbell look a bit like Reggie?

Can’t believe Mountcastle is still on this team.

It’s the bats hurting us tonight.
