Ohtani is another Tiger Woods. I'm sure he makes huge bank in endorsements. Tiger made far more money from Nike and appearance fees in overseas tournaments than he ever did on the PGA tour.

You made me look. I won’t hit 20 until March 18th. Been fun for sure.

Any team that signs Ohtani is guaranteed to make the playoffs. Just like his last team.

If they miss the playoffs or struggle to make it, are You going to go through all the comments about how everything is ok because we won 100 games?
Im sure you will be over that!
Why should he when you're here to do it for him.

Drafted by the Nats.

I expect nothing. Yet, I’m still disappointed when I get it.

Downtown restaurants should like this too. Much better for any local entertainment venues.

That will be Adley’s 4th season. You use Handley or Ardoin as a 3rd catcher. Have Adley start about 110 games at catcher and DH some. Maybe even some 1B. Have Basallo start 40-50 games at catcher and another 100 at 1B, assuming Mayo is either the 3B or RF. If Mayo is the 1B then Basallo just gets more DH ABs when Adley catches.
I’d like to see Mayo get time in RF in AAA this coming season.

I have pretty consistently said that Basallo will end up as the primary first baseman with Mountcastle traded next off season. Much as I like Ryan, I think that’s the best use of Adley and Basallo.

Jackson was the 1-1 draft pick and probably got a much larger bonus than Chourio did as an international free agent in Venezuela. As Corn pointed out earlier, his father earned nearly $159 million over his career. The Holliday's aren't hurting for money. I doubt he would extend before hitting free agency, but I'm sure it would require a record breaking deal. I like the Chourio framework, 8 years with options, but it would take a lot more money for sure.

I prefer Saturday evening games, but I'm sure this wasn't done randomly. They clearly have data that makes them think that this makes sense, even if some of us don't particularly care for it. I just wish they'd pass a law that all west coast games must start at 7pm Eastern time.

Given my history and past posts, the obvious answer is Ryan Mountcastle.

Any Orioles news on si.com is made up bull crap.

Since projections are averages, they pretty much never yield the win totals it actually will take to win the division.
Well, I don’t expect any team to win the exact amount that Szym projects, or anyone else for that matter. But on average, he projects the Orioles to have the most wins in the division. Will be interest to watch how this changes with final roster decisions by all of the teams.
-
Interesting thing is that Szym projects those 92 wins to lead the division.

They even have a special name for the ones that don't.
Crap. Didn’t even think about that. Well played!

Don’t 100% of homers “leave the park?”

From what I understood is some of the agreed upon items in the memorandum have to be approved by the legislature to proceed to a lease. Since they don’t meet until January I can’t see how they can’t come up with some kind of extension until at least June when any legislation update is approved and signed by the Governor.
Possibly the Board of Public Works (Governor, Comptroller and Treasurer) but I doubt the legislature. The General Assembly had to approve the $600 mil for stadium improvements. Unless the property rights provisions require additional appropriations, the BPW approval may be all that is required.

Why? This team should be trying to win a championship in 2025. That would be more of a rebuilding move.
Not true. We’re talking about trading Santander since he only has one year of team control. We’ll be in the same situation with Cease next year. Trade him? Try to extend him? Let him walk at the end of his contact? Qualifying offer?
Every team faces these questions, contenders and non-contenders.
I’m not saying don’t do it but it’s a consideration. Personally, I’d rather trade for a pitcher with more control. It will cost more but we have the talent base to pull that off.

It's hard to know what is realistic when the front office has done such a good job of keeping things out of the press.
It’s amazing what a tight ship Elias runs when it comes to front office leaks.
-
My only issue with Cease is that we’ll be in the same position as the White Sox next off season. Two years of control means we’ll be looking to trade him for a lesser return after ‘24.

What exactly do you think he’s worth?
He might have to be part of a package for younger pitchers with more control. Alone he might no be worth much more than Bieber. I’d rather target Seattle or Miami for pitching. Maybe you keep Santander and let him walk ala Houston’s MO. Use the prospect depth to acquire a better pitcher than Biebs.
-
I’m against it simply because I’m not a Bieber believer. His year after year trend doesn’t fill me with confidence that he’d actually prove more value than Gibson did. I’m fine with including Santander in a trade for pitching. Just want to aim higher.
Ohtani to the Blue Jays? (Update: Signs w/Dodgers for $700 million over 10 yrs)
in MLB

I simply take it for granted that if Ohtani actually brought this concept to the teams that were negotiating with him, this deal makes sense for Ohtani. And, if the Dodgers were willing to sign this contract, it makes sense for them. And, if it's not against any MLB rules or the CBA, then it makes sense (or at least isn't opposed by) the league. So good for them. I assume that the Orioles weren't going to go to $46 mil or $70 mil or anything like that, so I'm just glad he's in the NL guaranteeing another team as many Championships as his last one.
