I mentioned this in another post, but the White Sox shipping out Burger could be a precursor to acquiring a MI from someone else...

The WS believe they can compete next year in a weak AL Central, otherwise they'd be moving Eloy and Lois Robert Jr. If they are shipping out Cease, its not unreasonable to expect they would want to get a starting pitcher who is cheaper and has more years of control in return. Also, they have perhaps the worse defense in the AL and just shipped out one of their infielders (Burger). Urias replaces Burger and dramatically improves their D.

Couldn't happen to a nicer team.

Yeah I liked Sherrill. Maybe add Urias to the mix? Wells gets replaced on the roster by Cease Urias gets replaced by Ortiz O's win world series. Seems like a plan to me.

Might be there's no room for Wells if our rotation is Cease, GRod, Kremer, Bradish, Gibson.

Yeah I agree that they will ask for more and that Elias will stand firm or maybe add someone like Armbruster and then its a game of chicken after that to see who blinks first.

That trade ended up being basically Bedard for Tillman + Jones. I'd think Wells + one of the O's Top 100 guys gets in the ballpark and the WS would then ask for a 2nd Top 100 and Elias would respond with 2 or 3 lottery tickets from amongst our non-Top 100 prospects.

So you are fine with Wells + Norby, but think that adding Povich + Fabian makes that deal worse than the Bedard trade? You must have a really high opinion of Povich or Fabian or both.

Would you do Wells + Norby for Cease?

Ortiz + Wells + Fabian + Povich?

I wonder if the O's would consider sending Wells to the White Sox in a package for Cease?

In retrospect, the Fuji deal is looking more and more brilliant given his upside and what we paid for him. Hope Elias has another deal like that in him.

It's hilarious that the Mets extracted a top 100 prospect from the Rangers by shipping them Scherzer and then another top 100 from the Astros for Verlander. Basically both teams just stayed on par with each other but lost a quality prospect in the process...

Take out Hall and yes. I'm still high on Hall.
