  1. Me too. Isn't Kjerstand + Westburg + Hall similar to the package the Nats got for Juan Soto? Way to much for Cease.
  2. Giolito went for the #65 overall prospect (according to MLB.com) and a pitcher who's been described as having mid-rotation upside. Robertson went for two prospects who were 20th+ best in the Marlins system. The Dodgers get two starters for a non-Top 100 prospect. Am I reading this right that teams aren't getting back a ton of value for veteran pitchers thus far?
  3. 1. I hope they are right, but 2. Why not add Robertson AND bigger fish. Can't ever have too many dominant bullpen arms.
  4. Anyone else surprised the O's weren't in on Robertson given the low asking price the Marlins paid? (#20 + #24 prospects)
  5. A team attempting to win the most competitive division in baseball can't afford to carry weak players, even on their bench. Particularly with Hyde's management style, every player is going to see high leverage moments and we need to have the best guys out there if we want to maximize our chances of winning.
  6. The knowledge that Yankees fan will be looking at the scores every morning, seeing the O's winning again and getting his blood pressure up because it's "all smoke and mirrors" is going to be a gift for the rest of the season.
  7. It makes NO sense for the Orioles. Its possibly the worst trade idea I've ever seen.
  8. I like the O's ability to bring in multiple quality left handed PHers late in a game once a lefty starter exits.
  9. The guy is an idiot. He claims that both Oriole and Angel fans would be upset by a Holliday for Ohtani trade and that proves its "near the mark". No sane baseball fan would be upset getting the #1 prospect in baseball for a 2 month rental of a player their team isn't going to resign.
  10. If the O's win today, they just need to win one of the final four game series at Camden in order to win the season series and grab the tie breaker.
  11. We have one of our two best starters going against a rookie with a 5+ ERA for a chance at a 2 game lead and setting us up so we only need to take 1 of the final 4 games against the Rays to grab the tie breaker. I strongly care what happens in the game today.
  12. Elias needs to trade for a Miller type lock down reliever (or two). We have the assets, so there is no reason not to get this done.
  13. 9 out of 10 MLB Execs agree with you: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10083451 (who knows if its 9 out of 10, just made that up for the phrasing)
  14. Cowser has faced some strong starting pitchers since he came up. I'm convinced he'll make everyone forget the slow start in a few more weeks as he gets to face more average / below average staffs.
  15. Anyone we want to grab from the Yankees seeing as they are 9.5 games out of 1st and in last place in the AL East? Yeah I know they are still in the WC race, but give me my moment of joy thinking of them as trade deadline sellers...
  16. I will give Hyde credit for going small ball in the 10th and then bringing Bautista back out for a 2nd inning. That worked great.
  17. Yeah I didn't agree with Mountcastle PHing against a right handed pitcher with no one on. Don't you want Mateo to stay in for defense in the bottom of the inning and for Mounty to remain on the bench as a PHer against left handed pitchers if the game extends past the 10th?
  18. They might have to pull a Baltimore Colts and pack up the trucks and leave in the dead of night if they trade Ohtani & Trout.
  19. I am not sure Ohtani would want to go to a team sitting in last place and risk missing the playoffs yet again. I love the fact that I can say that about the Yankees right now.
  20. Yeah they seemed like the only team that might have the prospects and the willingness to eat salary. I do question whether the Angels would trade two of the 10 best players in baseball to their hated cross town rival, regardless of the package offered. Can you imagine how embarrassing that would be?
  21. I was not suggesting the O's acquire him / them. That would mortgage the future exactly as you say. I was expressing my doubt that there's anyone with enough talent to acquire both Ohtani and Trout.
  22. I think the O's would have to part with 3 Top 100 picks to get Ohtani. I doubt that happens, but given how embarrassing trading a generational player would be for Angels ownership, they will want a kings ransom that doesn't necessarily justify a rental, even if its Ohtani.
  23. Is there a team other than the O's that has the quality and depth of prospects to acquire both players? The Yankees certainly don't. Dodgers maybe?
