  1. He's off to a good start, which is nice, and though it's only two games in, he does seem to bring an energy and speed threat that we haven't had in a long time. He's arbitration eligible next year and remains under our control through the 2120 season. It would be huge for this team if Villar regained his 2016 form, or even something close to it, as his trade value would spike notably. Again, I get it... it's way too early... but one can dream, right?
  2. So, essentially he's a solid defender at 2B, but not so great elsewhere?
  3. What have his defensive numbers looked like?
  4. I edited the OP to note his outstanding 2016... thank you. He's the wild card in the deal. He's had one truly full season, two years ago, and was very good. Since then, not so much,. However, as you alluded to, it's possible he regains his prior form and becomes a surprisingly positive addition.
  5. One of the players from the Schoop trade has arrived, in 27-year old veteran infielder, Jonathan Villar. His last name is pronounced "vee-Yar". He was added to to the 25-man roster today, per Roch. What do you think about Villar? He's stolen bases well in the past and had an outstanding 2016. It seems he's someone that could regain value... but I wouldn't expect it. Thoughts on him? Will he take over 2B regularly?
  6. So, to recap (hope I didn't miss anything): For Gausman we received-- 2.5 million in International Slot $ 20-year old 3B Jean Carlos Encarnacion, R/R, 6'3 195 23-year old Catcher Brett Cumberland, S/R, 5'11 205, Draft: 2016, Braves, 2nd rd. (76th overall) College: California 23-year old LHSP Bruce Zimmerman, L/L, 6'3 215, Draft: 2017, Braves, 5th rd. College: Mt. Olive & Towson U. (Born in Baltimore, MD) Here's an interesting read on him 23-year old RHRP Evan Phillips, R/R 6'2 215, Draft: 2015 Braves 17th rd., College: UNC Wilmington (Born in Salisbury, MD) For Schoop we received-- 22-year old RHSP Luis Ortiz, R/R, 6'3 230, Draft: 2014 Rangers 1st rd. (30th overall) Sanger HS (CA) 18-year old SS Jean Carmona, S/R, 6'1 183, Signed out of the Dominican Repulublic 27-year old Inf. Jonathan Villar, R/R, 6'1 215, Signed out of the Dominican Repulublic
  7. It's after 4pm EST... the deadline has passed. Deals that were done before will be announced shortly.
  8. Agreed... they were unimpressed, as was Callis.
  9. Law, "That's a more reasonable return. It is not a bad trade for Baltimore. It's a little bit of an uninspiring trade for Baltimore." He then said later, "The return they got here was appropriate for a rental. It was more a quantity over quality trade. I don't think they got anybody in this deal who's going to be a star. It's probably quite fair for half a season of Machado. But there's nothing here to truly excite you, if your an Orioles fan..." Then shortly after, "They just got bulk." There was more, some of which you alluded to, but trying to type and listen is hard. LOL!
  10. http://www.espn.com/espnradio/play?id=24138990 Keith Law talks about the trade around the 2:00 mark.
  11. Some posters see this this and think...
  12. My God, how this team continues to operates in such a ludicrous fashion astonishes me. While it's EXACTLY what I've come to expect, it's still remarkably, almost comically, bad. New ownership can't come soon enough.
  13. I keep hoping that Manny is dealt to the Braves. I'd love to see us target 19-year old outfielder Drew Waters (Advanced A), and 21-year old RH starter Touki Toussaint (AA). Kolby Allard (AAA LHSP) or Ian Anderson (Advanced A RHSP) could potentially headline the deal. There are other teams' packages that could certainly suffice, but I prefer the Braves potential return over the others. I'm not expecting the Braves to pull the trigger on Manny, but a guy can dream, right? ?
  14. I like him and fully expect he'll become an integral piece of our bullpen moving forward.
