DL Hall & Grayson Rodriguez Headed to MLB Futures Game
Greg Pappas replied to scbalt52's topic in Minors
Ah, cool. Thank you, both. -
It's officially 81 games into the inaugural season of the new regime... what are your thoughts on the team, the system, and those running it?

DL Hall & Grayson Rodriguez Headed to MLB Futures Game
Greg Pappas replied to scbalt52's topic in Minors
I'm hoping Hall will start tonight in Frederick. I'm going with my dad, brother, and nephew. Anyone know who's starting? If so, where do I find that info... for future use? -
You are correct. Ivey hasn't pitched since May 17th. I read an article saying he was back and assumed he had continued pitching thereafter. My mistake. He went on the 7-day injured list 5/21/19...

Very cool. I often do things like this for the NFL Draft... it's a lot of work. Again, nicely done and appreciated.

Agreed, I believe he should be dealt as well. The trade I mentioned was specifically related to Bundy and Cashner being potential candidates for the Astros. Villar has been a solid addition since his trade here in the package for Schoop. Hopefully he improves his numbers as the deadline approaches. As for what he might garner, it's hard to say. I don't see a lot of teams needing a 2B, but I'd venture that he might get us an average system's top 11-15 prospect. That's just a guess though.

In regards to Cashner or Bundy, I imagine the Astros could be a potential fit. Their GM, Jeff Luhnow, says he's eyeing pitching. One Astros prospect (among others) that caught my eye is 23-year old RHSP Tyler Ivey. He had been caught with a substance on his glove earlier this season and was suspended 14 games. He has since returned and has pitched very well this season. I'm not sure what Elias thinks of Ivey's suspension, but he drafted Ivey in the 3rd round in 2017. Anyway, this is just one guy that could be a fit, and with Elias' relationship with Houston, a deal (or two) with them could make sense. EDIT: Ivey hasn't pitched since May 17th. He went on the 7-day injured list 5/21/19... so it's unclear whether he'd be on our radar.

Adley Rutschman to start at GCL for a game or two, then to Aberdeen
Greg Pappas replied to MurphDogg's topic in Orioles Talk
I'm going to Frederick's game this Saturday with my dad and brother. Have no idea who's starting, but there are some very good arms there. Their position players, on the other hand... -
TBH I hadn't recalled Frazier being a poor fielder, so going by memory comes back to bite me in the ass... again. LOL! I'd prefer we dealt Bundy for another player, rather than Frazier. Yet, if Frazier was the best we could do at this time, it'd be a tough call to make.
-
--Yes, I would make that trade.-- Edit: Hadn't realized how awful of a fielder he was. So I'd need to think more on it.
-
Awesome. Now that the figure for Rutschman is in ($8.1M) and coupled with Gunnar Henderson's figure ($2.3M) does anyone know if we'll have enough left over to sign the overslot kids we took late?
-
I agree with you. My format is based on my expectation that MLB would keep the current 4-team divisional format. I would actually prefer four 8-team divisions, with no leagues... just one overall MLB, similar to Tracy Ringolsby's ($) following idea:

Very interesting. BTW, there are two virtually identical threads about this topic. Here's the other> Here are the six teams that Manfred mentioned, and BaseballAmerica's breakdown of each city's draw: Portland Las Vegas Charlotte Nashville Montreal Vancouver

Much appreciated.

I could see it. Good find by you, even if we don't grab him.

When will Baltimore host another major sporting event?
Greg Pappas replied to Greg Pappas's topic in Orioles Talk
I would love to see us bid for the NFL Draft at some point, but am not sure where (venue) or when we'd host it. Ravens Stadium would be sweet. -
When will Baltimore host another major sporting event?
Greg Pappas replied to Greg Pappas's topic in Orioles Talk
Just came across this from an article by Rich Dubroff last year, -
I saw this tweet and am impressed that Cleveland is getting all of these events. However, outside of Pimlico and the messy situation it's in, when might we see Baltimore host another major sporting event? It may be awhile, unless I'm forgetting something. Thoughts? Thanks.
