  1. I'm taking my father, brother, and nephew to the June 29th game against Wilmington. That'll be my first Keys game. They seem to have awful position prospects but quality talent on the staff. Should be fun.
  2. https://www.mlb.com/orioles/prospects/stats?dateRange=Year2019&minPA=1 I love looking at this link because it makes it so easy to get updated stats for most of our top prospects AND is a cool resource to review other teams' top prospects when considering potential trades. There is a drop-down menu to choose a team right above where it reads "Top Prospect Batters".
  3. I think many of us have believed Harvey is best suited for the pen, and tonight he gave us an example of the Dr. Jekyll version of his talent.
  4. I noticed that as well, but glad you posted it. KC gave us a run for our money in the "race" to the #1 pick last year, and I suspect they and maybe one other team will challenge us for the #1 pick in 2020. I know some would disagree, but if we're going to be as awful as we are, I hope we get the #1 pick again next year and get as much top-end talent to really assist in the rebuild.
  5. Yolbert Sanchez defected and was already cleared: https://www.mlb.com/news/yolbert-sanchez-soon-eligible-to-sign-c303499974 It seems he's waiting for the July 2 signing period, which is his right.
  6. I updated the OP to make it a bit easier to read, and added the new ESPN article.
  7. I believe he would net us something in the Top 101-150, but I could be wrong. If he brings virtually nothing in return, then Mancini stays like you said, and maybe we'll trade him for something positive another time.
  8. The point is that guys that are 27 now will be 30/31 when we're likely to be competitive. Most players begin to regress in their 30's. I'd rather have a much younger guy and risk him failing. If our scouts pick the right young prospect he'd be part of our next winning team. Another factor is the extension we'd have to give Mancini to keep him on past his current contract.
  9. I agree with you that we're quite unlikely to get two Top 100 guys. One in the 101-150 range may be more realistic, but getting one lower-end (80-100) Top 100 guy wouldn't surprise me, especially if Mancini gets hot as the Trade Deadline approaches.
  10. Though I understand that trying to project four years out is very difficult, with Elias and Sig in charge I'm hopeful that we may start to see a winning franchise beginning in 2023. Many unforeseen developments will occur, as always, but if we break a .500 record any sooner than 2023, Elias could be receiving votes for best GM in baseball. I'll gladly take it. Though @Tony-OH and others can provide a clearer idea, here is my best guess of the ETA (not a cup of coffee) of some of our top prospects: 2020: 1B Ryan Mountcastle/OF Austin Hays/LHP Keegan Akin 2021: C Adley Rutschman/RHP Dean Kremer/OF Yusniel Diaz/LHP Zac Lowther/RHP Blaine Knight 2022: RHP Grayson Rodriguez/LHP DL Hall/SS Adam Hall/OF Kyle Stowers 2023: LHP Drew Rom/SS-3B Gunnar Henderson Many of these prospects will fail to make an impact at the big league level, if they ever even make it, but some will. For me, the development of DL Hall and Grayson Rodriguez seems vital to the success of the staff down the road. These are our two ToR upside pitchers, and if we hit on both, that will go a long way to fortifying the starting staff. Even if both make it, I don't see them both here until 2022 and cannot expect a winning record until they get some experience under their belts. Of course, one or both could accelerate their progress and arrive earlier, but 2022 seems like a safe bet. As well, there's hope that we'll see an influx of international talent arriving by 2023 (or sooner). The successful implementation and progress of Elias and Sig's overhaul of our entire system will be crucial to our franchise's fortunes as we move forward. I'm confident they'll do a great job. Note: I considered posting this in the Which year will the O's next finish with a winning record? but just went with a fresh thread. Mods could move it to the other thread though, if so desired. Anyway, what are your franchise expectations over the next four years?
  11. When trading away talent in return for another team's talent: Do you prefer to get fewer players with better talent OR more players with somewhat lesser talent in order to mitigate the risk? Examples: The Bedard trade and the Machado trade, wherein we received five players in both deals The Padres trading LHP Brad Hand + RHP Adam Cimber for Indians for top prospect- catcher Francisco Mejia I understand not all trades are created equal. Some players are far more valued than others, and team's may not be open to one of the examples in any given trade. I'm bringing this up because I got to thinking about potential trades at the deadline or this off-season. If we deal Mancini or other vets as I hope, my preference has always been to get the highest ranking talent we can get, even if it means receiving fewer players in return. The question boils down to your preference. With all things being equal and the other team open to either option, which do you prefer?
  12. That would be great. If I were to choose which position I'd like the top couple of prospects to play, it'd be pitcher/starter. We have some top quality pitching prospects on the way, but we need more. A ToR hurler would be an incredible get, especially a collegian that would have an ETA around the same time as our other top guys.
  13. I capitalized and bolded "very" in the OP to signify the low relevance of this early info. By next May forward the top prospects will begin to come into focus.
  14. At this point last year, 2080 posted this article: https://2080baseball.com/2018/06/mlb-draft-ten-names-for-2019/ Half of their early Top Ten went in the first round, though Witt Jr was the consensus early favorite. I recall you, I, and others warning folks that this is just an early look and these rankings and list will likely change. Many talked about Witt in the early going as if it was a foregone conclusion he'd be our pick, but we know how that turned out. Now I've seen Blaze Jordan & Emerson Hancock being mentioned to us, but again caution folks to recognize early lists for what they are... possibilities and speculation. The truly relevant info will come next May+.
  15. I just created a thread that covers the Top Prospects for the 2020 MLB Draft...
  16. It's VERY early, but folks (like me) are already looking ahead to what will likely be a Top 3 draft choice in the 2020 MLB Draft. So, I'll be providing links to lists or articles that feature the top prospects. Be sure to note the dates given in some of the links, as those articles will become outdated as time passes. Fangraphs' link is updated periodically. Updated periodically / Fangraphs' Top Prospects Board June 10, 2019 / ESPN's article: The 2020 MLB draft class is stacked! June 6, 2019 / Requires a $ubscription... PerfectGame's 2020 MLB Draft: Follow List June 5, 2019 / BaseballProspectJournal's Top 2020 Prospects List June 4, 2019 / CBS discussing Blaze Jordan, Spencer Torkelson, Emerson Hancock, and J.T. Ginn
  17. Yeah. Semi-interesting is that they were also 19-43 after 62 played last year.
