So caught up on all episodes. I have to say I am disappointed in season 2 so far. Pace is a lot slower and seems very different from season 1. I assume it is building to a worthwhile payoff.

Well we finished season 1 on Netflix and have moved on to watching the first few episodes on Fox.com. Wow at the season 1 finale.

Who do you see in the Norfolk of next year. Borbon will be a mil FA. Urrutia, Lake, and Lough are out of options. Alvarez could be in Baltimore next year.
Lough being out of options only matters if he goes back on 40 man.

I really have zero sense of what his value would be. If he might seriously go for 4/44 would it make sense to offer him the QO just in case?

I'm really starting to question DD as a GM now.
He continues to overpay for rentals and marginal upgrades. Combine that with the pathetic offseason and it's very disappointing.
Doesnt seem like it is an overpay considering other trades occurring this season.

Last night i was rallying against the move but i have warmed up to it. With the addition of Gunkel it makes it easier to part with one of the ML ready arms. Would have preferred someone better than Parra but will root for him nonetheless.
I started thinking this morning that if you are within reach you should try to go for it since you never know when you will have a disaster season when built well.
Will be interesting to see who comes off the active roster for him.

Here is what happened so that all the speculation can end: Baltimore thought extremely highly of Hughes. They were planning on signing him for around slot (give or take about 75k). He had all intentions of signing....and then the physical. The Orioles staff (doctor/trainers/management) saw something with Hughes arm that scared them enough to feel that $900k was too much of an investment to make in him. The Orioles came back and offered around 400-500k, but Hughes felt that it was not enough. The two sides could not reach an agreement. Hughes feels that he will be able to get a higher bonus in 3 years.
If this had been my son or brother, I would've advised him to take the deal as the Orioles would have paid for any possible surgeries, rehab, etc. The young man and his family decided attending GT was his best option.
Thank you for the insight. Am I the only one wondering why they felt comfortable giving 900k to Coffey but pass on this chance? I know, I know, different regime.

The best pitching prospect to come through the system since Mussina was traded for Adam Jones and Chris Tillman. Rodriguez and Arrieta still have a long way to go to even measure up to Erik Bedard standards.
Arrieta is pretty close.

The Yankees scored 8 runs tonight, and still lost.
To me, if feels like the Orioles won tonight, even though they weren't even playing.
Good thing they called up two new relievers for today or it would have been much worse.

I agree with the first part. It started strong with the massacre and Jerome and then it kind of lost its momentum. And the aftermath of the massacre was stupid to me. Seems like they killed nearly 100 people and then they are like "9 of your fellow officers were killed," and I am just like what?
