  1. The feuds will be interesting. I liked Orton freaking out and taking out Rollins while HHH was in his face.

I do not like that they are acting so nonchalant about the title being off TV and PPV for about 3 months. And then they are doing nothing with the IC and US titles. Pretty much makes them all pointless.

  2. Reimold has been with Arizona since Aug 30th but has mustered only 4 starts and 3 PH appearances. Don't see the point in claiming a player and not playing them.

Guess he was DFA or released since he is a free agent now.

  3. Another main event DQ finish. Apparently the creative team thinks it's still 1997 and they're writing for Nitro.

A DQ finish isn't terrible. A 3-1 handicap match is terrible. Especially when we have seen every combination of these 5 fighting in the last month already.

Leaving Lesnar of Raw and the PPV is one thing, but why no Heyman? What was the point of bringing him back last RAW just to not use him again.

  4. Tonight's episode was so boring and I had stepped away from the tv just to hear the Rocks theme and see the promo with Lana and Rusev. Still turned it off after the segment. I wonder how awesome that personally had to be with Lana and Rusev to have an in ring promo with The Rock.

  5. Agree with you both regarding Cesaro and Sheamus. Cesaro was about to become the next big thing, and then they booked him with Heyman and killed him dead. Looks like they are finally starting to get behind him again, but not sure Creative is smart enough to not screw it up again.

As for Sheamus, the guy takes some flack because he's a big strong brawler, but this guy puts on great matches with everyone he gets in the ring with. I would love to see Sheamus get a crack at Lesnar at the Rumble. We know he wouldn't win, but holy crap what a hard hitting slobber knocker that would be!!!

Interesting name to bring up as Sheamus just did an interview where he said he would like to fight Brock.

The RAW rating suffered hard but what do they expect when the same people (HHH, Steph, Cena, Ambrose, Rollins, Kane, Orton) are on almost 50-60% of the show. No Heyman (or Lesnar) the night after NOC is a letdown, though the reports say they kept Heyman off because they don't know what direction they are going in with the WHC. Perhaps they won't give us Lesnar/Cena in a HIAC like the buildup suggests. Just seems odd to me that you know you don't have Jericho or Reigns to put on RAW, so your response is to give Heyman and the Wyatts the week off. They took an already weak card and made it weaker.

  6. I don't think this ruins their plans that much either. Like Dip says, maybe Reigns comes back and wins the Rumble.

Taking something else out of NOC last night......The Sheamus/Cesaro match was phenomenal. One of the best matches of the year thus far. Cesaro has all the talent to make it big in this industry, he is fun to watch.

Oh I totally agree about Cesaro. He was pretty close to the top, especially after his match with Cena in the spring. He was gold leading into WM and they have completely dropped the ball with him. His gimmicks (and theme) since WM have been pathetic.

  7. Uh, how does it destroy any plans? Even if he's out three months, that puts him back just in time to win the Rumble and start his Mania push towards Lesnar.

If anything, this is a blessing. Fans were starting to get tired of him already due to the Superman push. This will make his return all the better!

I guess this is an accurate take. It just makes the next three months even more unbearable. The only good thing to come out of NOC was Rollins curb stomping Lesnar but I doubt they take that anywhere.

  8. Another so/so Raw last night. Had the chance to take my 7 year old. He loved it.

The steel cage match was decent between Jerricho and Bray. This should finally end their little feud. Rusev came out, waved the flag a little bit, we got to listen to the Russian national anthem with a jumbotrom shot of Putin for 4 minutes. Then he left. I was waiting for the Mark Henry attack during the national anthem, but didn't happen.

The Jerry Springer bit was by gawd awful. This story line with the Bellas is terrible. Maybe if they could act it would be a little better. We saw mama and papa Bella as well.

I think the best part of Raw was the Heyman/Cena promo. I'm not a huge Cena fan, but the guy speaks from the heart, and cares about what he does. I thought he was gonna break down and cry talking about the troops and make a wish appearances that he does. Heyman is pure gold for the WWE. I wish he managed more wrestlers then Brock.

I agree on all accounts. The Cena/Heyman promo was gold. I really laughed at the jab at the Baltimore Ravens, that was pretty well executed.

Second best part was the NXT match. The "Red Arrow" was awesome. Watching the reaction of the people in the front row was gold too after the move. I really wish they would get Sami Zayn on the main roster going after Cesaro for the US championship. There matches from NXT might be some of the best wrestling this decade.

  9. I am in my mid thirties. I somewhat remember the old Saturday Night Main Events. I've been watching wrestling as far as I can remember. I am actually taking my son, who is about to turn 7 to his first wrestling event next week in Baltimore at RAW.

I agree with the comments about Hogan, seeing his every so often made it that much better to watch, as opposed to getting burned out watching him 2-3 times a week. I just can't see the same thing happening with Lesnar. I don't hate the guy, but he's not a full time guy who is 100% WWE. I wouldn't be surprised to see him eventually try MMA again. I also don't see Cena beating him at Night of Champions.

A part of me gets tired of seeing the same old 3-4 guys become champion in a rotating cycle. Which is why I was happy Lesnar beat Cena at SummerSlam, I'm just a little disturbed he's not a full-time guy. Same as the Rock a few years back. We all knew he wasn't staying in WWE, but it's all about ratings, and he's one of the best at cutting a promo and keeping you on the edge of your seats, so I understand why they did it. I can understand why Brock is champ.

So how long does he hold the title? My guess is Wrestlemania.

Looks like you might luck out next week in Baltimore with the SS rematches of Orton/Reigns and Wyatt/Jericho.

It is almost amazing that they combined the two heavyweight championships and the one is even more useless and stale now because it has only been held by Orton/Cena/Bryan/Lesnar.

The Authority storyline is getting stale and they need to bring in a new face or something. A new bad guy. Rollins is great but this has been a few months now.

  10. Xavier Paul, whom the Orioles released from the AAA team, was quickly snatched up by the Diamondbacks and added to their active roster, only to pretty terrible in SSS.

Xavier Paul was released to make room for Nolan Reimold. One bird begets another bird.

  11. Talk about interest drying up in a product, this thread has sat empty for three months.

Not much interesting going on nowadays and that is to be expected in the fall.

    1) Brock Lesnar as your champion is what is "best for business," mainly because Paul Heyman is what is "best for business." Many of his recent promos (which I watch on Youtube) have been epic recently. Having Cena involved is stale though, which leads to...

    2) The injury to Daniel Bryan hurts way more than they will let on to. Had Lesnar crushed Bryan, "bringing him back to Earth," with Heyman involved in those promos, would have been awesome.

    3) Cesaro has completely stalled out, right when he was on the way to the top. They need to do something with him and do it soon. They have screwed him up since they paired him with Heyman. Gave him crappy music and then put him in a constant feud with RVD, which led nowhere. And the "mutual" splitting of Heyman and Cesaro on the same episode Lesnar returns was stupid. Set up some bad blood, or do the split before without ruining the already heavily leaked return of Lesnar.

    4) The Network has completely backfired on them which isn't all that surprising. The three hour RAWs also do nothing to help the company.

  12. Jim Johnson gonna get DFA again watch.

Somehow he survived the roster shakeups today. Both Robbie Ray and Ian Krol sent down to AAA. If the Tigers are seriously depending on Jim Johnson then there season might as well be over.

  13. He needs time to work on things, he rushed it. Got shelled today it looks like.

If the Orioles were willing to sign him, the smart play for him would have been to sign with Norfolk and stay down until the minor league season was over, while working with the coaches he was unfamiliar with, and come to Baltimore after rosters expand. Instead, he pitched poorly in his minor league appearances and has been equally as bad in the majors. Alas, he will most likely be released and not catch on with a team until next year since the minor league season is over in 10 days. With a decent showing to end the year he might have earned a guaranteed contract for $1-2M next year, but now will most likely have to settle for a ST invite.

  14. Jim Johnson gonna get DFA again watch.

Wow 2 hits and 2BBs and all 4 score. He might very well be DFA'ed tonight to make room for a fresh bullpen arm tomorrow. It is amazing how bad he has been. And how desperate Detroit was. He even asked for an extra outing at AAA and they still thought he was ready for the majors.

  15. Brett Wallace has been better for Buffalo than he was with Norfolk, carrying a .790 OPS compared to .718, but still well below his AAA career .842 OPS.

LJ Hoes' stay on a 40-man roster looks about over, as he completely floundered at the major league level this year and has been passed by several players. He keeps on putting up a .400 OBP in AAA but with the Astros facing a roster crunch this winter, he could easily lose his spot.

Xavier Avery is actually about to set a career high for OPS this year, unfortunately it is at AAA, and only .741. IIRC, he was already removed from the 40 man roster by the Seattle Mariners.

  16. Edgmer Escalona has been on a roll since joining the Yankees AAA team, pitching to a 1.00 ERA while allowing only 3 walks in 27 IP. The only downside so far is 6.3 K rate, which is down nearly 2 K for his career. Slightly surprised he hasn't been summoned to the Yankees' bullpen so far this August.

  17. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/08/astros-could-still-reach-deal-with-brady-aiken.html

The Astros could still end up signing first overall draft pick Brady Aiken, and ?the expectation from those close to the negotiation? is that the two sides will reach an agreement around the time of Jacob Nix?s grievance hearing, Fangraphs? Kiley McDaniel reports (Twitter links). The MLBPA filed the grievance on Nix?s behalf last month, and the hearing will reportedly be held during the offseason.

How are the Astros allowed to come to an agreement to sign Aiken? Under what loophole?
