  1. Roch has an Orioles' "Fascination." That's his job. If he wants to write about McKenna - NBAD. Doesn't impact The Roch Meter for me. Then not much does.
  2. This is spot on. You make the offer if there is need and he projects as worth that amount within the context of what else you play to do financially. Does he fit into your total budget plan if he accepts? If he's still here in September, we will have a better feel for the situation.
  3. I hope this thread doesn't start a jinx!!!!!!! Waving my anti-jinx wand!!!! Baseball is a game of averages. Don't assume anything long term - as sure as it may seem. Just cross fingers and enjoy the now.
  4. This seems to be the norm this year. If it's close, go with the call on the field. Umps ain't showing up Umps unless it's obvious. He was safe to me and we caught a break. Glad I'm not an Angle's Fan. It will probably average out.
  5. Just when I think there is no way better to say it, Roy, you top the charts. Since Scrapiron caught Turley, I've been hooked. Since The Rope singled to right field. There have been many ups and downs but the illness has been consistent. I love this site for moments like this. Where else? I love this team to the same degree I love family. Thanks Roy!
  6. I too would love to see Norby get a chance. Probably be McKenna just so they can pass him through waivers again. That defense thing.
  7. I have no idea either but from my eye test, Westburg seems to have fewer "holes' at bat. Not as much swing and miss. So, I'll predict Westburg has the higer ceiling and probably be wrong cause I'm lousey at predicting. Like them both and loved the interview yesterday. Hope they both are Orioles for a long time.
  8. Everytime we clamor for a player busting up AAA, we need to remember the road from AAA to the majors is a pretty steep incline. Plus when you "arrive," staying isn't always guaranteed. There have been many that couldn't make the necessary adjustments to "stick" even after years of trying. We have a young team with more that look real good at AAA. IMO, there are few guarantees in baseball. I try to preference everything with "I think" or "in my opinion." Because I do not know! I marvel at the posters who flat out seem to know. In Holliday's case, I think Holliday will justify what many of us think. It just may not be as quick as we like. The question for Elias and Hyde, is how much patience can you afford when you are seeking pursuit of a World Series run? The question for Holliday is can you get it together while Elias and Hyde still have patience? We shall see............. I still think the Yankee series will be the line of demarcation.
  9. IMO, neither Elias or Hyde would put a player in a position that would damage them long term. And, they will verbally support their players as opposed to adding to their struggles. They are giving Holliday chances to succeed. The rest is on him. If Holliday can't handle this or any potential future reset like GRod or Cowser, then he isn't the player we all think he is. I was in the camp that wanted him up. Now, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't make it to the Yankee series if things don't make a very positive change. Hyde talks about professional at bats. I'm not seeing many with Holliday. That has got to change - soon.
  10. I sure hope you are right!!!! MASN is beyond mess.
  11. Did/do Elias & Co. really think he was/is ready for prime time? I can't believe they bent to pressure to bring him up. This is a cautionary tale that there is a big difference between spring training/AAA and the major leagues. I'm guilty as one who wanted to see him up, but this isn't working. It's really hard to watch. I feel for the kid.
  12. Oh my! I sure did! I'm a math major, she'll not be at all surprised and in fact get a laugh out of it. Thanks for the heads up.
  13. Make the wife happy - Gunner. Priority one, but........ There's the Boras thing and I'm not holding my breath. Of the choices given, he'd be the safest re risk/reward IMHO. Holliday will be good but, in my opinion, Gunner is in a different class - like MVP class.
  14. This is spot on. If Rubenstein means what he says, (Eilas/Sigbot will run the show) the question is what will Elias do with more resourses? How is Elias going to meld free agencey with a bigger budget and team needs going forward. I do not see Sigbot buying into long term high dollar deals for pitching. Particularly for 30 plus year old pitching. I feel any long term deals will be calculated around mutual advantage for team and player with as little risk as possible. I sure don't see Sigbot paying out eight years for three to four years potential benefit.

I have a relative that complains about something in every email they send. It must be some sort of therapy for them. Maybe OH is a Therapy Board for some. Plus, I really don't think Ben needs anyone defending him! Particularly with KB who I really like.
