I would go to 3/42. From what I read he's looking at around $10M in arbitration next year so that's essentially 2/$32.

I would offer him a 3/$36 deal now and get him through age 31-ish

How many games are left in MILB? Would he get a chance with the MLB club in September before a move to end his season in AAA?

Yes this seems to be the thinking. That's a lot of production to look for from a rookie. Wouldn't it be prudent to get him some MLB atbats to gauge this plan or would the sample size be worthless?

I have seen commentary that Santander should likely be moved this offseason. Is anyone in favor of keeping him around?

It's better, at least for me, than saying "We really gave it our best..." from a guy known for being a straight shooter. Which gives skeptics of the organization (with regard to not doing everything that can be done to improve), perhaps like yourself, an opportunity to mock such a comment.

He could have generalized that they had plans to make some upgrades but the market was more expensive titan they proffered.

This I have no doubt about.. wish his message would have been more in that vein.

Why you would start negotiating a trade with a destination before you knew it was viable is really not just counter-intuitive but just stupid. Think of all the time they spent negotiating.. for nothing.
