Well he has been unimpressive at AAA but I didn't realize he was only 21. So... I change my mind...

He was my primary target originally.. but after looking deeper into his game logs.. I am not all that interested anymore. Especially at the cost of the prospects it likely will take to get him. ERod is likely a better target, but as I said in a previous thread, all of the available pitching has warts. I don't prefer to give up a top 10 prospect for anyone currently. I prefer a more subtle gamble with lower level prospects.

Are they Jays going to need a SS? Would we move someone to a rival? Mateo? lol Do they have anything we'd want?

He's scheduled to pitch against us next Saturday. Too late by then... perhaps he will be pitching for us..

What will drive the cost up for us potentially is the competition. Is Houston and LAD in good shape currently after their moves to make it more difficult for us?

It would only be for a year+ so I don't think this is an issue.

I agree with you completely. 103 pitches to get through 5.1 innings yesterday. Perhaps they swallowed more than they should have with Scherzer and are spinning it.. .

AH... I saw in the limeup thread someone posted Gunner getting a needed day off.

They also said they value Verlander differently than Scherzer and won't be contributing as much $$$... so for me, if that is true, that's already a deal breaker.

With that in mind.. Gunner and Westburg out of the lineup, I think Rich Hill is coming our way.

I watch Hader close yesterday leading 5-2 in the 9th.. it wasn't pretty. Got the final out with the bases loaded. Pitches were erratic, walked a couple I believe... And I agree with you on Verlander.. .103 pitches yesterday to get through 5.1 innings...

All this is true.. but doesn't tell the whole story. Trying to throw 6 pitches wasn't a recipe for success. Now that he is down to 3-ish, he's much better, thus far.

If we are unable to add a SP by the deadline.. should he be an option?
