  1. I wonder if there’s ever been a grid where all 9 players were involved in one game.
  2. I don't want them to acquire a SP at the deadline unless it really is that TOR type. And I don't know if any of those are on the market. But right now we're at a point that I'm not sure if we can hold on to first place or even a WC spot if we don't shore up the bullpen. I realize how much baseball is left and how silly that might sound but the bullpen is easily the biggest problem. I'm right there with you, I'm way more worried about not getting great bullpen help, 100%.
  3. It's really not. I don't think Elias is going to upgrade the starting pitching. And I do believe that the starting pitching is really coming into their own over the past few weeks. Is that a hot streak? Maybe. Maybe they're also not this good. It's so hard to tell. I think what frustrates this board is that there's no bonafide #1 household name that can strike fear into an opponent, much like the 2014 Tigers that had Verlander, Scherzer and Price. And yet, we handled the Tigers in the playoffs. But I don't think the rotation is the achilles heel for this squad as currently constructed. Even if someone goes down, the new and improved Swervin' Cole Irvin looks like he can step up and deliver. I think there's a bit of depth here that we haven't quiet experienced in a long, long time. Anyway, like I said, the rotation isn't the achilles heel, unless you're all like OMFG WE DON'T HAVE A GERRIT COLE TYPE OMMGGG HOW ARE WE GOING TO COMPETE?!?!? which, at times, seems to be a lot of you on here. Cries about not having a #1 pitcher, the exalted TOR STARTER, have been rampant on here for years. Do we really need one? Or do we need two more guys that can bridge to Bautista? IMO, it's not even up for debate at this point, even though I just painted it as an either/or situation which it doesn't have to be. But from where I'm sitting we need bullpen arms more than anything and we just watched a great one go off the market in Robertson, unfortunately.
  4. In case anyone here's confused on today's grid, the P is for Pittsburgh. D is for Detroit. The C might be for the Reds or the Cubs, I can't tell though.
  5. Hard to beat being excited as a teenager when they traded for Bonilla and signed Alomar. Hard to beat being excited as a teenager going to Camden Yards for a playoff game against the Indians (Tony F'ing Fernandez ruined that, though). Hard to be as excited during those times when there's still two months of baseball left. But it is exciting, no doubt about it. I feel like the next 5-6 years should be really exciting, too.
  6. Saw this thread was hot, come in here and find out you guys can’t reply to each other correctly wtf
  7. Don’t care. As long as he can do his job and he fits in the clubhouse that’s all that matters.
  8. As someone who's watched baseball my entire life, I think they're all pretty obvious as to which team is which logo. I'm confident in saying you're probably the only one on this board who can't tell the difference.
  9. Lmao Ken and Clete Boyer yet can’t discern the Cubs logo from the Guardians and Reds.
  10. Lol baseball nerdy but doesn't know the difference between the Reds logo and the new Cleveland logo. That's rich.
  11. Joe Posnanski wrote about Immaculate Grid in his blog today. Fair long read, but fun. And I echo his sentiments about wanting to just getting it done sometimes.
  12. I admittedly didn't know that off the top of my head, I looked him up on Baseball Reference. I just remembered how much you liked him back in the day cause of the whole scrappy/Screech thing. And I was wondering if anyone else had ever picked him up...sure enough, the A's did for two games. Depending on the day, I like going for the obscure answers...sometimes I just want to get them done. I find myself using a lot of the same players over and over...that's not a complaint, but I'm surprised at how some guys can net correct answers. I think I've used Greg Vaughn three times in the past week.
  13. Just know that if they ever do Orioles/A's you can use your guy Jeff Fiorentino!
  14. All you guys thinking that Snell/Hader is a possibility for us are fooling yourselves and you know it.
  15. Guys drafted in the first round (especially in the top 10) get a lot more chances than those who haven't been.
