  1. Also, there's a line between being "not patient" and being upset about how this offseason has gone. The line can get a little blurry at times, but it looks like a lot of fans took that "liftoff" comment very seriously and are pissed. Especially coming off the season that we had where we surprised a lot of people, took a quantum leap forward in the win column and can see the minor league system paying off...it felt like this was an offseason where we could pull up a chair to the adults table. So yeah, I think it's easy to confuse "not patient" with being pissed.
  2. I don't think it's just the OH fans that are not patient. Elias is getting draaaaaaaagged on Twitter.
  3. Some would argue that Rodon's injury history is the red flag. I just tried doing research a little while ago, can't find a definitive list of what his injuries have been. If he hasn't had TJ yet, you can bet that would happen on our watch. That said, I agree, he is what we need. He has some nasty stuff that's improved. He can be a #1 or a very strong #2. I don't think 7/210 should prohibit us from locking up Gunnar + Adley down the road.
  4. Probably, but whatever. "Financial insanity," though.
  5. 1/10 for Gibson, couldn't do 2/25 for Stripling, what a joke.
  6. That's true, there's big boom/bust potential here. Don't get me wrong, I am not advocating we sign him for 7 years but like I said, even if we did I'd be happy that we finally have shown that we'll spend money. It's more about that message than the actual deal.
  7. Ah, there it is. "financial insanity." Mark that one down. Tells you all you need to know.
  8. I largely agree but I'd still like to see them spend the money and go for it. Anyway, earlier today it looked like the Yankees were preparing an offer, I hope he becomes their mistake.
  9. It'd be nice to see them spend money. Even if 7/210 for Rodon is absurd, it'd be nice to see them actually going for it. It'd erase a lot of the thoughts here about that Elias isn't allowed to spend money.
  10. That's quite a word salad to say you won't be happy.
  11. Yep. I'd also like to point out that whining about whining is still whining.
  12. Bro, I think the only person whining here is you.
  13. These are good points. He also doesn't walk a lot of batters.
  14. That's fine. I think he'd like to sign some other pieces but I think we all know who controls the purse strings here.
  15. Hey, I'm not the one who's penciling in rotation pieces that haven't been signed yet just because Mike Elias said so.
  16. I can see that. Although he wasn't someone I was interested in before the offseason, he could be a good get for us. Maybe he can have a career year or two here, although I think his career year could have been 2021. And not that I don't believe you, but I haven't seen any reported rumor of us being interested in him. If you're saying he's the last seat in a game of free agent musical chairs, sure, I believe that. https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb-rumors-al-east-team-214203368.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAI3St151HeF083VYxLLPlhLRZpYceIoDHJhc08ThjBk2YRtRtIowYT-Xs3s7xHt8j7k8g9AxVEYr5xtelqSOuDWZi99LHMneujqjt876CNyRRa_IxCt77Pzj_YqNurn0bj6dlTaoUpX8botMp59KIcihEjEsQpfe9xP-_FU0JR15 This article says the Jays are interested in him. If the rumors of the Yankees getting Rodon are true, I can easily see the Jays moving quickly and signing Eovaldi.
  17. Hey guys, look! We've got an unknown pitcher who Elias says he will get through FA or trade! That's correct!
  18. In regards to FA, it's pretty much over. There aren't many names left out there, especially from a rotation perspective (which was widely viewed as the biggest place this team needed to upgrade) that make sense for us. You can say "It's only December 13th!" all you want, but 7 days ago "It was only December 6th!" and yet we're still here with Kyle Gibson. Trades can still be made but I'm not getting my hopes up, I don't think Elias is ready to deal from his farm system yet. I agree that this team isn't on it's way to a 14 period of "sucktitude" but this should have been a significant FA signing period for this team, especially in regards to the rotation and it's been a complete flop.
  19. Has SG posted since this trade went down? Someone please call and check on him, a 3 team trade might have given him a heart attack and/or a stroke. Anyway, looks like Rodon might be headed to the Yankees. Seems to be the kerfuffle on Twitter. This has been a really disappointing offseason so far. And I'm not saying that because we haven't given an absurd contract to Rodon, but it's that other teams are fearlessly making moves, being aggressive and Kyle Gibson is our booby prize.
  20. Froberto Alomar, you said there were only six players left you’d wanna sign the other day. For free agency, it doesn’t matter how much time is left. What matters is if there’s anyone you deem fit on the market and from what I can tell that list is rapidly dwindling.
