  1. I'm coming around on Brown, probably because he's not Garceau or Newman. It's a low bar, but it is what it is. The pop culture references and trying to be cute still can be annoying but it's not as irksome as it was initially. I suppose you could say I'm getting used to it.
  2. Phillips up here instead of Stowers is perplexing. Shut up Garceau, who cares if he's a good baserunner. He can't get on base!
  3. I don't have MLB.tv anymore. Anyway, I like Ben so I'd keep it here regardless. The thing is that I actually feel kinda bad about bagging on Garceau. He seems like a really, nice genuine guy and he's been doing Baltimore sports forever. It's just that he's painful to listen to.
  4. It sucked that we didn't get a run out of that in the first inning.
  5. Count me in as someone who thinks banning the shift is an overreach.
  6. Well, it's Garceau. I guess it can't all be good, but that's alright.
  7. Hell yeah, Friday night, Orioles in a bit of a playoff race, game thread. The ****s up?
  8. I really want to see the Astros win it all. I know for Trey, it wouldn't mean as much as it would have if he won one here, but it doesn't matter, he still deserves it. And Yankees/Dodgers tears are delicious.
  9. My dream for Aaron Judge is that the Yankees give him a metric ****-ton of money and his performance craters to Chris Davis/Joey Gallo levels. I'm not wishing for injury, I'd never do that...I would just like him to wake up one day and forget how to play baseball after signing a record-setting contract that would hamstring the Yankees for years to come.
  10. @Flash- bd, I'm ready to move on from Mountcastle as soon as one of our prospects steps up and can't be denied a spot. It's been real, it's been fun but it ain't been real fun with Mountcastle. Good guy, I like him a lot but it's just increasingly harder and harder to watch his at bats when you've got guys like Adley and Vavra.
  11. I don't think that's a likely OD 2024 lineup. But I will say that I think by the end of 2024 all of those guys will have been in Baltimore for a good bit and we'll have a good idea of what we've got in them. Some will be core pieces, others won't be. The earlier post is correct, these dreams of completely homegrown WS teams is a bit far fetched but that doesn't mean we couldn't be the first. As far as upside goes, you can make a case for all of those guys being, at least, a regular above-average starter in the majors by the end of 2024. We can squabble on what positions they will end up at (I think Cowser in CF, Vavra in LF is more likely, myself) but the point is that something similar to that lineup COULD happen if everything breaks right. It's nice to dream on, for sure.
  12. Agreed on all points. And I think the last paragraph is what matters most.
  13. He's been great, but let's see how he settles in. I don't think the plate discipline will change, so that's one good thing he's got going for him.
  14. True, but the guys on the team love Odor. Now I know that doesn’t matter to anyone here (including me, this isn’t a defense of keeping him on the team even though he’s become a favorite “bad Oriole” of mine). I said this the other day in a different thread but I think it bears repeating here. I don’t think Elias went down to Texas to meet with everyone after the Mancini and Lopez trades with the idea that he would end up cutting guys on the current roster. I’m happy he went, it shows that he’s a good leader and a good communicator. And it shows that he wants to have a good relationship with his players. I doubt that Odor has come this far, survives the trade deadline only for Elias to cut him in August or September. That’s too bad for Gunnar as he would make this team better but we know who Elias is and, to your point, what his M.O. is. Vavra is a good prospect but I don’t think Elias views him as a core piece, hence the late summer call-up. Can’t say the same for Gunnar.
  15. 1 and 2. Harder to justify 3 if he’s killing it in the minors and holding him off that long.
  16. I’d say there’s a small chance Henderson breaks camp with the team next year. Bigger chance Elias holds him down until he gains an extra year of service time. No chance he comes up this year despite what many of you are hoping for.
