  1. I’m not upset about it considering how he’s been swinging lately.
  2. I can’t remember being so underwhelmed by a prospect coming up. I think I was more excited about Jeff Fiorentino.
  3. I'm also stoked that the guy we're getting is about to get TJ.
  4. Ya'll see @Sports Guywhen he found out it was a three way trade?
  5. I don't care if I was using a strawman. People act like saying "strawman" is something that makes them win an argument. But you can't count on him staying healthy. But if you wouldn't trade him as part of a Snell package, I get it, no worries.
  6. I thought the Houston cheating scandal was pretty cute when it came to making Dodgers and Yankees fans cry like children. The cheating was bad, but...I mean, if your victims are the Yankees and Dodgers, I'm cool with it. Anyway, go Astros!
  7. You can say strawman as if you think that's some kind of argument-winner. You didn't say Santander's injuries are a non-factor, but you really didn't address them as a factor in discussing him. You can't really overlook them, he's pretty fragile. If you're going to knock Snell for the "5 innings a month" then you should probably be looking at Santander in the same light.
  8. But why are Snell's injuries bad and Santander's a non-factor?
  9. A great Oriole and an inspiration to a lot of people. Wishing him the best of luck moving forward.
  10. Can't wait to see what middling pitching prospects we get back in return. Wait for it.... Wait for it......... Wait for it............................ PRINT THE PLAYOFF TICKETS BABY!!!!
  11. Damn. Well, I think the Astros got some new fans, despicable as they are.
  12. Yeah, you can't prop up durability issues for one player and ignore the other player's issues. If @Picklescontinues to ignore that, then he's not interested in having an honest conversation. I like Santander, too. As someone who's historically hated the Orioles kinky obsession with Rule 5 guys with a passion, he's an exception. But he's not a core guy, I'm not sure why anyone would think that he is.
  13. Maybe you should replace your car today. It'd get you away from making posts on here for a few hours.
  14. He's at 61 innings this year, I think that's more than 5 innings a month.
  15. How can you say K rates are all well and good but then there needs to be a time to deliver on the field? Isn't a high k rate delivering on the field?
  16. How's Santander going to be more valuable next year? And how is Mullins more valuable this year than last year when he's not nearly as good? How is the fact that players are replaceable not a reason to trade them? I have so many questions here.
  17. Nah, I think the familiarity has a lot to do with this board's interest in Snell. I hardly saw a mention of Luis Castillo on here in recent weeks. I agree that Santander isn't a guy that brings back much. Solid player but there's nothing outstanding about him. And yes, very replaceable.
  18. Also - and I can't believe I'm actually saying this- I'd like to see what the Orioles could do with Snell from a coaching/analytics perspective.
  19. Yeah, we agree there. If we're going pure upside, Snell is a better bet than Santander.
  20. That's fine. And I'm assuming there's nothing that could be said to convince you otherwise. I will say that I don't think either one of these players is a lynchpin for their respective teams success moving forward. Santander isn't a centerpiece, he's a nice player. I think Snell is a good pitcher. Neither one are core guys and therefore replaceable.
  21. I don't think anyone's fetishizing him. I wouldn't mind if we got him depending on what was given up. The interest in Snell stems from the fact that he's got AL East experience. I'd say people more fetishize the "OMG HE HAD SUCCESS IN THE AL EAST" aspect more than anything. It's not because Snell is a good pitcher, it's because he's done well in the division and people seem to think that is huge. I'm willing to bet that if Snell hadn't played for the Rays and was just some dude who'd never set foot in the AL East, there wouldn't be this amount of interest. His FIP, as mentioned earlier is 3.56. He strikes out a lot of batters. The walks are concerning, but I think he does a decent job of keeping the ball in the park and he's hard to hit. He's a good pitcher. I don't think anyone thinks that he's the Cy Young pitcher that he was in 2017, that seems to be a bit of an outlier. But he makes this team better. Now, he talks like he's got 3 functioning braincells and appears to be a doofus. As a guy, I don't like him. But I'd take a team full of convicted felons if it meant a World Series.
  22. I always like it when Pickles gets uppity. Snell is fine. This thread is exhausting.
  23. True, things could change. I feel that most writers will chalk it up to who has more WAR and give it to that guy. So, we'll see if AR can catch him.
  24. Julio Rodriguez won the rookie of the year vote a month ago.
