  1. Druw Jones hurt his shoulder, could be out for the rest of the year. Per Tge Athletic. Can you imagine the meltdown on here if we picked him and that happened?
  2. Mancini batting second and AR batting 6th is questionable at best.
  3. Why am I looking forward to it? Cause I can't wait to see another Bradish type, that's why. Maybe if we're lucky, we'll get a McKenna, too.
  4. Looking forward to whatever middling prospects we get back because "it's the smart move."
  5. Love to see it, but I don't believe they're that bad. They have a lineup that should be able to score a lot of runs. But whatever. **** 'em.
  6. Wouldn't really call this a horse race. I mean, maybe one of those horse races where they pull the carts or something, but certainly not a horse race.
  7. Yeah I expect AR to be better than .775. The rest seem to be .775 guys. Book is out on Urias but I’m not getting my hopes up.
  8. He needs to get some time with AR. He could be a great hitter if he was more selective. In a way he reminds me of Adam Jones. Jones would, for a week or two, all of a sudden look like he was becoming a disciplined hitter. He’d finally lay off the low and outside sliders even though you could tell it was taking all his strength to not swing. And then he’d revert back to his old habits, swinging away practically everything and missing. So I always wondered with Jones, was it trouble with pitch recognition? Couldn’t be, he had those times where he’d lay off. Did he think he could actually hit the stuff he was swinging on and missing? Must have. I remember one time actually cussing at Jones because he did line a low and outside slider for a base hit and I figured he’d get that jolt of confidence to make him think he could hit that pitch on the regular. That confirmation bias, “Yeah, I swung and missed at the other 20 of them, but did you see that one!? I did it once I can do it again!” I see the same thing with Mountcastle. Looks disciplined for a little bit, but can’t sustain it. Keeps reverting back into a hacker.
  9. I think if you wanted to highlight Mancini you wouldn't put him in the outfield. And to CoC's point, I'm pretty sure that any team interested in him would be aware of his defensive shortcomings. I don't think there's anything he could do in RF that would make him a more desirable trade candidate.
  10. Bunch of guys who are susceptible to blazing hot streaks and extended cold spells. IMO, that's what a .750-.775 OPS hitter looks like...good enough to carry a team for a few days, even maybe a month. But also plays at the other end of the spectrum, too.
  11. It’s bad. These two need to get it together over the next week if they wanna get a few games over .500 by the deadline.
  12. I would have to assume that Ozuna is/was a better defender than Mancini. IIRC that was the year he was busting out so I believe the Cardinals gambled that he was taking his game to the next level. Didn’t really work out for them though. Either way, pretty good pull.
  13. Two hits and a walk today. His at bats are must-see. Sees a lot of pitches, elite patience. Doesn't swing at junk. Batting average up to .238. There's almost a .100 point separation between his batting average and on base percentage. I'm wondering if in his prime he'll ever post a .400+ OBP.
  14. Good points, I'd like to see us get back over .500 and stay there. But as @waroriolenoted, that does put us in playoff contention. Now, you and I (and a lot of the oldsters here, I don't think there's a lot of people under 30 on here) remember a time where even if you were a little over .500 that meant you weren't all that great. But now with the way things have been expanded, it means you've got a shot. Albeit a small one, but a shot. Like I said, I want to see us be .500 against our division from here on out, we need to be able to hang with these teams.
  15. Anyway, I'm just happy that the whole team can go and if anyone gets hurt we can bring someone up from the 40 man without having to do any roster shuffling.
  16. Hey, enough with the logic and facts already! This is the place where we think we can get two top 10 prospects out of any given system just because we believe we can! Get out of here with your comps!
  17. The past two series have brought me down to earth a bit, even though they've put up a good fight and lost some close games. IMO, if this team wants to make a last wild card berth run, they need to be at .500 in the division and beat up on everyone else outside of it. I think they can beat up on weak West and Central teams pretty well, but losing 2/3 in each of the past two series to the Rays and Yankees hurts. And now the Rays are in town for 4.
  18. Don't look now, but he's in one of his nasty cold slumps again. And just looks completely lost at the plate. Since July 7th, .214/.277/.286 before today's 0-4 performance.
  19. Stop pitching to him! Sweet Christ on toast, wtf?? If they want to pitch to him with the bases empty, fine. But with runners on? Just forget it.
  20. Don't you know that we have to come up with hypothetical trades galore around here?
  21. I think he carries an .800 OPS or so the rest of the way. Some of the doubles start turning into homers. And I think he'll go on one monster hot streak. Like, a MONSTER hot streak.
