  1. That's the immortal JR House coaching third base for the Reds, everybody.
  2. "I've been looking forward all day to watch Kyle Bradish pitch," said no one ever.
  3. Says the guy who posts about obscure music on a baseball message board. Pot, meet kettle.
  4. Stoked about the Gunnar/Adley Bowman card I got earlier this year on ebay. 04/50, gem mint 10.
  5. At least it's not the arm. But it sounds like it's probably one of those pesky obliques and if so, well, that's the end of the season for him, most likely. One of the bright spots in our season, definitely.
  6. This you, bro? Had Reimold stayed healthy, I think he would have been a better hitter than Mancini. Not by leaps and bounds, but IIRC he had better plate discipline.
  7. The dinger off Rivera was a fantastic moment. It's a shame that he could never stay healthy because he had the chance to be a really good player.
  8. Me too. Then we could actually afford the playoff tickets.
  9. That's fine, but I don't think they should trade one, only to hold onto another. If the deals make sense and Elias is offered prospects back that make sense, he should do the deal no matter what.
  10. If you're going to move Mancini, Santander should be moved too. If you're going to make room for youth, make room.
  11. I think this is pretty fair. He was a guy that outperformed expectations (the juice helped) and was kind of a face of the team for some really murky, forgettable post-Cal years. When I think about those 2000s teams, outside of the 2005 team it's just a gross, murky mess that all kind of washes together. Some names stick out, Gibbons being one of them, but it's just a hodge-podge of forgettable teams that were always around 70 wins and just...BLECH. Nothing redeemable. But Gibbons was a guy you could root for.
  12. Also, '93 All Star Game, Mussina warming on his own in the bullpen and Cito Gaston failing to bring him in front of the home crowd. And the "Cito Sucks" aftermath for a year or two afterward. Nothing much made me smile more as a young teenager than a bootleg Cito Sucks t-shirt at a game.
  13. To this day, I can't hear the name Chris Bosio without getting a bit annoyed. I'm curious if anyone else remembers this. I distinctly remember going to an Orioles/Royals game in the late 80s at Memorial Stadium. Sat up way high behind home plate. Anyway, I'm pretty sure Kevin Seitzer charged the mound at one point and was ejected. I've looked and looked for this before and I can't find any evidence of it anywhere. Does anyone else remember this or is it just me?
  14. There's a long way to go between now and Tuesday. That said, I'm getting the feeling we're going to stand pat. And I have no evidence for this, it's just a feeling. Seems like Mancini to the Mets was hot a few days ago and has cooled. It could still happen, but I get the feeling that it already would have happened had they really been that close. Maybe we make a minor move or two but I think our "big" trade chips (Mancini, Lopez, Santander) are here to stay. I'd like to be wrong, though. Guess we'll find out.
  15. I'm hoping this is sarcasm. I miss OFFNY, just not the alternating letters.
  16. Pay attention, OH fam. This is one of those threads that no matter what you explain, the OP isn't interested in changing his mind or educating himself. That said, Trey didn't run hard because...well, exactly that. I'd say the odds of what happened yesterday are more like one out of a thousand. Quite frankly, I can't remember the last time I saw an outfield completely brick a routine flyball like that and I've never seen one go off their face. Usually it's a miscommunication or, hopefully, a collision (where no one gets hurt, just embarrassed). Anyway, these guys are pros. You expect them to catch a ball like that, a thousand times out of a thousand. If this were Little League, I'd argue differently. No one busts it up the line 100% of the time, even Cal. Maybe Pete Rose, if we're to believe the legend.
  17. Hoping for 6-3. Will settle, grudgingly, for 5-4.

  19. That is fantastic writing. Years ago, I did some photography for the Redskins. And I had locker room access, postgame. I'd go in there, listen to the postgame interviews and I'd see Boswell in there, standing around lockers like anyone else. Didn't have a voice recorder out, just jotting things down in shorthand. Believe me when I say that all I wanted to do was to just reach out, tap him on the shoulder and tell him how much I enjoyed his writing and I could never bring myself to do it. Out of all the guys in that locker room, big and physically imposing, I wasn't in awe of anyone more than I was of him. I couldn't bring myself to tell him. Anyway, I'd say Devo had to have been in the top 5 athletes that the Orioles have had over the past 30 years or so. He was awesome. I remember watching him before games running sprints with Cal. They'd start side by side, Devo would have the lead, then tail off, circle behind Cal, come up on the other side and blow past him like it wasn't anything.
  20. Man, I don't think anyone's mentioned Sutcliffe's Opening Day start in '92 for the first game at Camden Yards. Also, Flanagan at the final game at Memorial Stadium. A more obscure one, but very memorable is Mike Devereaux's catch.
  21. All of them. Every last one. And I'll do it again.
  22. Seeing that ball hit off Lowe's face was one of the highlights of my week.
