IIRC they wanted to do that last year, I can't remember who the pitcher was (Bitsko?) but he was gone next time they were up. Porter should be the pick here. I mean, I don't know why they're implementing this strategy if it's to NOT select a guy like this.

Porter would be good. If you think he’s gone under slot with the picks so far, this might be where he steps up and takes a prep pitcher who’s fallen a bit. Ah who am I kidding? He will take a college bat.

I think it’s possible they had him #1 too. If Holliday and Jones were both neck and neck though I’m assuming the price played a part here. I’m not mad at it btw. Overall happy with the pick despite the fact that I can’t get over that he looks like he’s 12.

Gotta wonder if they had some idea of a range in which he’d sign for if they picked him. Picking first overall has its advantages and that’s certainly one of them.
