  1. I was probably the biggest anti-Gausman guy on here while he was here but whatever. I'm happy that he's figured it out. And while I'm always rooting for the Orioles, if he shoves it up our ass and takes the win here today, I wouldn't be totally upset about it.
  2. I dunno. You'll have to get someone for the first month and a half of the season who so they can game his service clock, ain't that right @Can_of_corn?
  3. Yep, you're right. My bad. Essentially two games. But let's not argue about "essentially one game" vs "starting two games and 8 plate appearances" and then say it's not worth arguing about, Froberto Duran
  4. Pretty sure El Trea wanted to sign every first baseman ever. He'd have had Teixeira at first and Prince Fielder at second base or something. He was insufferable.
  5. I think Stowers gets sent down. I'd agree, it's a stupid move to bring him up just for essentially one game. But they had to know who Toronto was starting in this series, so it can't be a surprise to anyone involved. I dunno. I don't really get it, but whatever. If he gets sent down, so be it. He'll be back.
  6. Well I guess my laptop and my iPhone are being tracked. Because I was sitting on the throne a few minutes ago and this popped up on my Twitter feed:
  7. Oh man, the Hayden Penn name fiasco. That was hilarious. And while it was absolutely ridiculous, I totally agreed with the spirit of what he was saying. I can't imagine a guy named Hayden Penn being a great baseball player. But Penn wasn't bad because he didn't have the name of a great baseball player, he was bad because his stuff was poor. I agree, call it the Davis line. Here's hoping he's on the upswing and finishes the year strong.
  8. 6 weeks doesn't seem to be for some...8 weeks, yeah, I'd agree. Two years in a row now, he's been a very slow starter. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts 2023 very slowly, too. Some guys just are what they are.
  9. I'm not saying I disagree. I just wish there were a way to figure out how accurate that is.
  10. I sure did! He seemed to think there was a big difference between batting .250 and .290 so I wanted to let him know what the difference was! Yeah, I thought it and then I typed it out!
  11. I don't disagree with any of this. But I think every big league hitter would like to figure out a way to iron out cold streaks.
  12. Would I want to keep the double play in order?
  13. So is the default strategy to always walk the leadoff hitter in the bottom of the 10th then?
  14. He'd be more of a beast if he weren't such a slow starter.
  15. Poor @wildcard, doing yeoman's work. Thinking that he's out in front of this morning's news and making a statement thread about how the Orioles are staying in Baltimore just because Georgia said so, and then getting that thread yanked down because we already had 47 pages discussing it. Dude's just trying to be a beacon of positivity.
  16. I'm not apologizing to anyone with the last name Angelos until they apologize for how badly they've botched this franchise.
  17. Anyone wanna apologize to John? Anyone?
  18. We're still far off. 13-12 is probably the best 25 game stretch (paging @Frobbyto the thread) since 2018. But all it is, is a 25 game stretch. We were .500 in May, probably the only .500 month we've had since 2018, too. Stowers probably isn't here past the Jays series, but he isn't far away. AR35 is here, but he's not really hitting too well yet. I will say the season is going surprisingly well, although @Tony-OHand @Sports Guywill be here to admonish me for saying that. One thing they're not taking into consideration is RS/RA: May 2021: 108 RS/163 RA May 2022: 128 RS/145 RA June 2021: 131 RS/ 172 RA June 2022: 63 RS/67 RA We're halfway through June and only down 4 runs. And before anyone whines, yeah, I Ieft out April because it wasn't convenient for my argument. Also mentioned on one of the broadcasts the other night was, IIRC, that we've had more come from behind wins this year already than we have in all of last year. I think that adds to the "feeling" that people have talked about on here that others are quick to dismiss. This team fights. I know, I know, I know, overall W/L record isn't that great and from a 25,000 foot view, sure, I agree. And yes, SG, I agree that Elias and the Orioles are terrible for making everyone think that it would take 4 years to rebuild and they could have been better than they are now. But that's not what I'm saying. What I am saying is that this team **so far** is better than it's been in awhile. I'm not sure if that holds up for the rest of the summer but anyone who watches the games this year compared to the 2020 and 2021 teams can't tell me that this team isn't better. That said, it still has a long, long way to go.
  19. I didn't mind him. I mean, he wasn't great but he was also a pickup made in spring training so it's not like there were great expectations there. I have to admit though, I didn't think he'd be playing in the majors this year. The fact that he's doing it for the Nats makes me laugh.
  20. That's a good analysis/rundown. Seeing someone that young at these levels make adjustments that big is impressive and, IMO, something that should separate an elite prospect from the pack.
