  1. He punched Jose Bautista, too. But yeah, he's got some pop. That's really gotta be it. I mean, power is cheap these days but sheesh. Odor doesn't really belong anywhere. Urias has some talent and needs to play every day, he could be a solid piece for this club for the next 3-4 years. Mateo has more upside than Odor, he needs to play each day. With the current crop that we've got, I'd rather see if Gutierrez can still play that slick defense at third. Odor doesn't really have a spot here. I don't understand it but whatever.
  2. Agreed. There's no way Odor should be getting playing time over Urias for any reason.
  3. Hey man, they moved the LF wall back. That's gotta account for something. I agree, he's gotta get 5 innings every start no matter how bad he gets bombed early.
  4. Let's remember, they might not be trying to win this year.
  5. Yeah but those guys are expensive and we're cheap.
  6. I don't like the fascist 26 man but only 13 pitcher rule. I'll construct my roster any ****ing way I want. If I want to have 26 pitchers on my roster, I'll do what I damn well please.
  7. Yep, no doubt about it he's been bad. It's only 50.2 innings in the majors but you want to see a guy get off to a better start than that. I don't care that he makes the team either if they think there's something in his mechanics that they can straighten out and make him into a bullpen piece. Obviously there's a Houston connection there so I'm curious to learn more about that.
  8. Yeah, that stands as a really tough waiver wire pickup to beat. Especially if he can duplicate what he did last year over the course of a full season.
  9. SG just out here killing any sort of optimism from brother Interloper. Play on, player, don't ever give up.
  10. At least Charlie Montoyo throws us a bone. Although what I think he meant to say is he'd like to play the Orioles 19 times and the other teams not as much.
  11. I don't have an issue with it, he lets you know in the first few paragraphs what it's all about: Shame on you, SG. For being the board's resident hardass, I'd expect a softie like wildcard to have posted this article and then for you to have been all like "When they actually want to start competing, then they'll get a mention." Which would be true, by the way.
  12. Alex Cobb throwing 97: Full disclosure: I haven't seen this yet. But multiple scouts have heard that Cobb, whose fastball averaged 93 mph last season, is hitting 97 these days. If that's the case -- or if he's anywhere close to that -- the San Francisco Giants are going to have one whale of a rotation, and the predictions of severe regression might be a tad premature. Cobb, Logan Webb, a healthy Carlos Rodon, Alex Wood, Anthony DeSclafani? That will play against anyone. Lol it's a lock that Cobb becomes an All-Star after leaving Baltimore. Probably wins a Cy Young, too.
  13. Ahh, for some reason I thought I heard he wasn't doing as many games. Oh well, whatever. It's not like I won't watch because Palmer's not on. Whoever's on is whoever's on.
  14. Can't be all the damn time if he's not doing a lot of games!
  15. Looks alright. Will take some getting used to. I think how it plays will be pretty straightforward, more doubles and triples. Looking forward to it. No one's said it yet but I'm already exhausted by the astute observation of "That would have been a home run last year! But now that the wall has moved back it's now a long out/extra base hit, etc." Thank Christ Jim Hunter isn't around for this. As I was typing that, I could hear him explaining it.
  16. Yeah, let's exclude all the bad at bats. I bet Ted Williams hit .500 the year he actually hit .406 if you subtract all the times he made an out!
  17. Given the options, I prefer Gutierrez, too. The only reason I'm 50/50 on Odor is because he decked Bautista a few years ago. Hard to hate on a guy like that.
  18. 80% chance it's someone underwhelming.
  19. I'd like to see if Gutierrez can still keep that level of defense that we saw from him last year at third. Who we trot out there is of no consequence unless they're going to have someone they identify as a future cornerstone there.
  20. i hope you're correct, but I'm seeing a severe innings limit on G-Rod and Hall. I think Akin and Kremer would provide you the performance that any of the aforementioned would, so they're all kind of a wash.
  21. Oh I've long given up on a Correa type and am pining for a 3.5 to Archer. Like, bread crumbs would be nice. I still think we have a smattering of Milone, Wojo, Brooks types this year, though. Yep, all the eggs are certainly in one basket. Let's hope it works.
  22. Just for arguments sake, let's say everything they're doing right now is a tremendous backfire. Rutschman is Matt Weiters (good, but not amazing), Rodriguez and Hall get hurt/underperform and the rest of our pitching prospects aren't great. Maybe someone like Stowers surprises everyone but that's about it....and they're a team that's lucky to win 55-60 games this year, putting a severe dent in whatever plans there were for being competitive in 2023. Again, just for arguments sake. What happens then?
  23. Yep, agreed. But I believe they could have signed both. That said, I know spending 10 million+ in one offseason on pitching is blowing out the budget.
  24. Fair enough. I hadn't realized that Archer had been that absent. But the Twins are a relatively smart team, I believe they would have picked him up thinking he was ready to pitch more this year.
  25. He's fallen off quite a bit, but...I mean, c'mon, he signed Harvey last year. It's a joke that they signed Lyles for 1 year/7 million when Archer just went for 1/3.5.
