Can We Finally Get Rid of Jorge Lopez?
Moose Milligan replied to Aristotelian's topic in Orioles Talk
No. -
This is stupid. It doesn't mean the money will be spent wisely and they'll be driving up the price of average players. I get it if you want to punish and tax the rich teams but I shudder to think what the Orioles would do if they had to spend 100 million.
-
I think the bats will win a game like 8-7 or something like that along the way. But yeah, I think we'll have a 4-32 stretch here, for sure.
-
Most players are flawed, outside of a true 5 tool talent like Trout. None of these guys are good at absolutely everything. @Philip, I hope you understand this.
-
Just remember: It's all downhill from here for this kid. He'll struggle somewhere in AA or AAA and there will be whining about how we should have picked someone else.

1-15 in our last 16 games. A 4-32 stretch is definitely in the crosshairs and probable.

Mountcastle off Concussion List, McKenna optioned
Moose Milligan replied to SteveA's topic in Orioles Talk
I hope Mountcastle can pick up where he left off. He was doing pretty well. -
No one knows for sure what Holt did to make them successful. And no one can say any improvement anywhere belongs to Holt. No one can also say any improvement DOESN'T belong to Holt, either. I'm not defending him, I'm also not laying blame at his feet 100% either as I don't think there's a lot of great talent to work with outside of G-Rod, Hall, etc. Can't make chicken salad with chicken ****.

None of them, knowing our luck. But some guys in the minors have had good seasons, that can't be denied. How much of that is attributed to Holt?

I feel like @wildcardis taking unnecessary flak in this thread. Dude tends to get carried away and fall in love with players/coaches at the drop of the hat, it's part of who he is.

There is talent from the perspective that even the worst player in MLB is in the 99.9% percentile of all players in the world. But let's not pretend that Akin is a guy with electric stuff who can't harness it. He does have, at times, a very nice slider. The rest of his offerings? Not that special. Is a guy like Akin someone who can find success elsewhere? Maybe. I'm of the opinion that a lot of guys who struggle at the major league level are a tweak or two away from finding success. We've seen it so many times over the years where a guy is close to flaming out and not making it. Then they'll find a new batting stance, a new approach to hitting or a new pitch or a mechanical adjustment in their delivery. As mentioned, a guy like Akin is one of the best baseball players in the entire world.' So maybe Holt isn't the guy. It's hard to say. But the fact that absolutely none of our young pitchers, guys that we were counting on to step up and contribute has been alarming to say the least. But you look at a guy like Means who's been very good this year, he's pitched well no matter who the coach is. Tyler Wells, a scrap heap Rule 5 guy has done well. But I agree, the majority of the work this year hasn't been encouraging.

Holt isn't doing a good job, this is true. But it's like he's being asked to paint a copy of the Mona Lisa with fingerpaint.

I liked Stevie. Best of luck to him.

Holt isn't the dude, I don't think. Then again, Brocail had the advantage of having Akin and Kremer up for their debuts before the book could really get out on them, too. I don't know how you quantify that, if it can be quantified. It's just a theory.

I think I might turn this one off here

Well this got out of hand quickly.
