  1. Dude, simmer down. And put the bottle down, too. The classic Jimi is a good look, always.
  2. Happy to see Spenser Watkins making some good pitches. It looks like he's hitting the corners pretty well.
  3. His first at bat, he hit it hard. Loud out. IMO, it's a good sign when there's someone slumping and there's a loud out. If a player is making good solid contact but the ball is finding gloves, that's one thing. He doesn't look lost at the plate.
  4. There's nothing to debate, really. Not upset, I just recognize a masterful troll job when I see one and it's tiresome. I might have found his hilarious like 15 years ago but it's just dumb.
  5. Here's hoping those pitchers you've named can be respectable. I've got my doubts but they should get their chances.
  6. No, 2023. People are thinking G-Rod and Hall are going to come up right away and produce. They might, but no one's going to take into account that there are going to be innings limits. No way they're going to let G-Rod and Hall throw 160-180 innings next year. Maybe they'll win 65-70 next year. But certainly not .500.
  7. Low expectations. But play him, see what you get.
  8. This draft is wide open. There's no clear consensus #1 pick. There are a lot of good players that could go anywhere in the top 5. As usual, signability will matter. Seriously, these industry insiders all have different mock drafts and their guesses are just as good as ours. Sure, they're all hearing different things...different being the key word. None of them really can tell. That said, I'm assuming we'll take someone who'll sign for under slot and Elias will keep his draft strategy from last year. Look, he did show us that if there's a consensus pick at #1, he'll take it. He did it with AR. He changed up his strategy last year and that's fine, even though I think Kjerstad will be a bust it doesn't have anything to do with his playing ability, most likely. Whoever we pick at #5 will probably be a good selection that will be complained about by some, lauded by others. That's just how it'll go. When you step back and look at what he's done since he's taken over, it's pretty damn good. I'm not saying it's an amazing job, but it's been a solid one and the story isn't over yet.
  9. No, just no. Ripken won the MVP in 1991 when he hit .323. That season was sandwiched around two other seasons which he hit .250 and .251. What, was he all of a sudden not supposed to take a day off in '91 but take time off in 1990 and 1992? Even that year he had late in his career where he hit .340, he did it in 86 games. The next year he played in 83 games and hit .256. Shouldn't he have hit .340 again? He also hit .276 for his career, get the facts right. Here's an artists rendition of me declaring victory on this thread:
  10. That’s absurd. You can’t run these guys into the ground. You’d have pushed Wieters? Gary Carter played in 159 games in 1984 for the Expos. And that’s National League, they couldn’t have him DH. The next year for the Mets, he was in 149 games. After that he never appeared in more than 139 games again which he did in 1987 at age 33. Even then, his production had declined sharply. You can’t tune into every game expecting to see the star players no matter how bad the backups are. It’s completely unrealistic and unreasonable.
  11. Another Phillip thread disagreeing with the managers decision. Sundays are usually a day where the first stringers get a day off. Hardly every team trots out their best lineup on a Sunday. Some guys get a day off, that's just how it is. I don't really see an issue here. Yeah, Mullins is having a fantastic season but let's keep in mind he's never played a full one at the major league level. He can get a break every so often...not every good player we have has to start chasing 2,632.
  12. Pat Connaughton going to the NBA Finals.
  13. Certainly not THAT much better. Not head and shoulders better. Valaika is lucky that he's not been DFA'd this season...that's not an endorsement of him, rather it's a symbol of how bad the 2nd base position is for the Orioles. It's not like Hanser Alberto is lighting it up this year, too. We can critique up and down about Elias and certain moves but it's obvious he hasn't found a 2nd baseman he wants to stick with. Again, that's not exact praise for Valaika.
