  1. Orioles also now collecting 100% of TV revenue in the 4th largest combined market, after refusing to pay the Nationals one dime of their TV rights this season. They also will have a bottom 5 payroll for the next 3 years at bare minimum, pocketing a cool quarter BILLION dollars for the Angelos coffers that they will then claim got lost or was spent on the "scouting department". So in a few years when we actually have a respectable team that is ready for significant pieces, they can cry poor again saying "but but we don't have any money we are just a lowly small market franchise" while the fans fall for it like the sheep they are. It's magic!
  2. Every day that goes by Duquette looks better and better, and the owner looks worse. Yet Duquette was trashed for 4 years straight around here while some (very very few actually) of us realized how hard (impossible?) his job was working for the tyrant that is Angelos. This is just yet another, now irrefutable example.
  3. We sure have run the gamut on all of the dumb, ridiculous "theories" that only the sharpest of fans could provide that is for sure. Steroids! (always been huge power guy, still is) Adderall! (I guess we have some young fans that don't realize he had one of his best years AFTER that situation was long over with might want to check the 2015 .923 OPS with 47 HR and 5.3 WAR, 2nd best of his career stat line. Not on adderall) He doesn't care anymore after the contract! (now we can read minds, a tried and true method of getting to the bottom of anything) Maybe he just sucks now and there aren't any "conspiracies" involved. Ever think of that? Does it even matter?
  4. You realize we are talking about a HIT. A single, lone hit. Saying "he is due one of these days!" shows just how far he has fallen. He isn't a ML player and hasn't been for far longer than any other team would put up with it, owed XXm or not. He needs to be benched, brought back after some time off to give one more chance, and then put out to pasture. We are at the point of no return. The money is a sunk cost, it doesn't matter anymore if it ever did.
  5. This is the most preposterous piece of "journalism" I have ever seen. It wasn't good enough to claim the Orioles would be "financially ruined" from the huge court battle, he went even further to say that the team will have to MOVE to another city because of it. What planet does this guy live on? Schmuck is the biggest Angelos apologist I have ever seen lately. Every tweet or article he writes makes me want to vomit, so sick of the media in this town. They are part of the reason why this dictator that owns the team has been able to operate completely unchecked for the most part, and run this franchise straight into the ground.
  6. I mean his shoulder popping out of socket when it was probably at his side and not even in motion isn't exactly encouraging to say the least. If you are diving out of the way how in the world does your shoulder just fall off, you really can't even make this stuff up.
  7. There is nothing further from the truth. I wish people would stop saying it. I can point out bad contracts for every single team in MLB and how much they are costing other teams. The thing is before Davis we never really signed anyone to a huge deal, so we were immune to any of that for a while. It just makes the ONE contract that went bust look worse. This team is in a prime position over the next 5 years because there isn't really a single player on the books who will be making any real money, or long term. Except Davis. The decks will be almost completely clear by 2019-2020 so to claim that the franchise is damaged beyond repair because of 17m in wasted dollars a season is ludicrous. It certainly doesn't help but it is far from the end of the world. Although the "family" and their little minions will try to claim it is, just so they can use that as an excuse to never sign a good player again, or at least as long as they can get away with it. Probably another 15 years like before Davis.
  8. He can't possibly get any worse I am calling bottom. Last 8 games have tanked it far enough that there is only one way to go and that is up. I think.
  9. Manny will sign with whoever makes him the best offer, just like pretty much any player out there. But the peanut gallery around here will still claim it would be stupid to sign "one player" to a "300m contract" even when that "one player" can get you the wins that 50m spread over 4 players would on the open market every year, with the price increasing by the day. The Orioles already have an advantage with the familiarity he has with us and not anyone else, and they need to make a full court press to retain him no matter what the cost. Now they won't do that, and the franchise morale/near/long term future will be destroyed because of their stupid ridiculous "policies" designed to maximize the bottom line and minimize even the slightest bit of risk above anything else.
  10. Manny on pace for 8.1 WAR hitting .340 with an OPS of 1.068. Man I can't wait til we trade him. Prospects prospect PROSPECTS!!
  11. Safe to say the FA market is in the absolute toilet right now, and we should just keep signing guys if they are going to essentially work for free.
  12. HAHAHA it just keeps getting better and better!!
  13. This is an absolutely ABSURD deal for a possibly 3 or 4. Ridiculous. Yet we still have some "meh's" around here. It is comical. You really hate Dan that much? LOL. Kills you doesn't it.
  14. Wait so you are complaining we signed a starting pitcher for 8m a year? And using Ynoa as an example? Lord.
  15. How the heck are we getting to 41m over 3 years??
  16. Yeah considering #3's get double that. Our 8th inning setup guy gets 8m. ' This is highway robbery.
  17. Dealing Dan strikes again. 8m for a starter with a pulse is a steal IMO.
  18. Huh OK then. Never seen a MLB reporter used "guaranteed" in a report (because there really isn't a need to when MLB contracts are fully guaranteed) but ours are unlike any other so who knows why he said it like that. Maybe that is what the team told him to write.
  19. 1/14 with a 2m buyout possibly after vesting 2nd year> The tweet did not say 2/16 and again it was worded as such to make me think it isn't 2/16
  20. I don't think this is correct. He very oddly worded it "16m guaranteed" which sounds like 1/16m with an option in year 2. I could be wrong.
  21. Angelos was essentially forced to carry a higher payroll for a (very few) years because we just happened to have a bunch of good payers that happened to be all up for arb and kept getting raises. It wasn't by design, it is the LAST thing he wants to do but it isn't like you can non tender good young players producing. Throw in one 17m AAV deal to bring back a fan favorite and all of the sudden he is being called a free spender! LMAO Back to reality. You suckers will fall for it every time. He plays the fans like a fiddle and most are more than willing to "believe". Show me a single 85 yr old man who has ever changed his stripes. He is the same pathetic horrible owner he has always been, as cheap as possible unless he is getting his arm twisted in some way. But he will always regain the upper hand. It is what he does. You want the truth about what he is? Manny Machado. Jonathan Schoop. That is what he is. And always will be.
  22. If you heard what Dan said during the rain delay and read between the lines, they aren't bringing this kid up to sit on the bench. Dan could barely contain himself (in the most Dan way possible) about his 5 tools and how he just breezed through double A when they thought he would struggle. Rickard will be on the bench and Hayes will be the starter in RF if I had to guess. At the absolute least he will start against LHP, again Dan was almost drooling talking about how he systematically destroyed LHP in the minors and the numbers were crazy.
  23. Pomeranz vs Tanaka tomorrow, then Sale vs Severino Sunday. Clear Red Sox advantage in both games left.
  24. They have 4 games against Red Sox, while we have 4 against the Blue Jays. Then they have to come *here* for 3 games. Advantage, Orioles.
