One would think that stripping down the payroll to a roll of toilet paper, and saving a few grand on travel here and there would signal some type of pending sale. But this is the Orioles we are talking about, you could argue they have been "prepping for a sale" for.....4 years now. I'll believe it when I see it.

MASN? What is that? It does not exist to most around here. Provides no financial revenue, and never has. Has literally nothing to dso with the team or their finances. I bet someone will chime in and say it actually COSTS the team money and we should be thankful St Peter is so generous. Its a "separate entity" overall. Yeah that is it. And the stooges believe it. That is where almost every MLB team not in the top 6 (well them too) makes all their money. And everyone knows it, but they are just clinging to anything to make themselves feel better about this trash owner and the team. More power to them I guess to just keep their head buried in the sand.

He literally said I love what the organization is doing and am "excited" to watch a 30m payroll get smoked for 162 games. Talk about brainwashed. We've been watching this movie for 20 years, we know exactly what they are doing behind the scenes. Not allowing their broadcast team to travel to save a $1000 bucks. That is what they are doing.

This ownership just keeps spitting in the face of the fans, and most of you just wipe it off and keep moving. I can't fathom how anyone can support this regime. They have destroyed baseball in this city and most just keep hope alive!!

I wholeheartedly agree with ALL of this, but the NFL does in fact have a spending floor. It is over a 4 year rolling period average though not a single season. But it is 89% of the cap during that time. Yet another reason why almost every single team has a chance to make playoffs year in and year out.

This wasn’t for cost, it was for cause. Someone who would know says that he has had numerous run ins with......various people. Not exactly the friendliest of guys when you even slightly disagree with him, rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. Allegedly.

Some people like to conveniently ignore that extra BILLION for some odd reason. I didn’t think it was thread worthy enough, but I have been told the Angelos family has recently put a TON of real estate on the market they have been holding for *decades*. Development type properties, and they are all for sale. Could be unrelated, but interesting nonetheless. Hopefully the team AND MASN will follow.

If this team isn't being put up for sale and soon, we are in even deeper trouble than usual. There are no more corners to cut, liabilities to minimize, or expensive employees to fire.They couldn't possibly spend any less going into a season.

Interesting! Indisputable value those RSN's hold huh. Wonder what the value of owning the rights/RSN to TWO markets and not just one is? Probably not much. Cry poor fans and Angelos, cry poor. Sell the team already and put a couple Billion (with a B) in your pocket Angelos, it's the least you can do. If we ignore the last 15 years.

Tell me about the Padres regional sports network that brings in tons of cash every year. Well they own 20% of a tiny market, I'm sure they are at least breaking even. Oh and I know the Angelos family definitely is poor and not billionaire status. I'm a one note charlie who has proven to be right about every single thing I have said about this ownership over the past 15 years.

They ARE paying Machado 10/300. Not only one 300m deal...but TWO! In one of the worst markets in all of baseball.

How in the world can a small market like San Diego afford such a contract? I was told it was "impossible" for a team with FAR more resources.

Plenty of people who can do math, are very well off, (and educated) love to gamble......and to suggest the only people who take part are poor and stupid is absurd. I gamble because it is fun and any money I lose is just the cost of entertainment. That is how 99% of people look at it. People blow money on things every day that give them zero value, at least gambling you can have fun doing it. If I choose to spend my entertainment dollars gambling that is my choice. And TONS of people are making that choice every day, so sportsbooks will soon be coming to a venue near you. Not a question of if, but when.

Might as well stop following all sports now then. There will be a sportsbook at almost every stadium within 5 years. Trying to appeal to that whole "fun" thing I guess you don't care for.

Every single move this team has made (or not made) has signaled they are positioning themselves to sell. I don't know how much clearer it can be with this news. A lot of stadium leases are 30 years not 3. New owners want their own people, ideas and deals in place, and they are doing everything they can to make sure that is the case with all this maneuvering.

Just looked at last 3 seasons since being a reliever......yikes.

I mean I think this is a totally reasonable thing. We all know how 20-30 yr old professional athletes in peak physical condition in the top .0000000001 percentile of all humans on earth with little to no pre existing conditions are who can contract covid and ultimately die from it. Could be the last time they ever walk out onto the field if they don't take this seriously. This is literally a life and death situation.
