  1. Don’t look now but the Guardians are just a half game back for the #1 seed.
  2. Just did a random check of Statcast games (couldn’t figure out how to do breakouts by month) and he saw quite a bit of 94’s and a few 95’s in June. More recently seems to be more 92-93 with nothing 94-95. If someone know how to do better in-season breakouts in Statcast I’d be interested in a more formal breakout.
  3. The biggest issue is the pitching as you point out. Losing Bradish, Means, and Coulombe certainly hurt. But Kremer and Irvin falling off a cliff has created a black hole that has a cascading impact on the bullpen as well. Hopefully Efflin will help but Rogers doesn’t look like much of an upgrade.
  4. Much better approach and it actually started on Sunday (8 walks) against a pitcher who had only allowed one walk in his previous 11 innings.
  5. Gave it a B. Felt like they gave up too much for Rogers but the other moves were solid. They solidified the floor and provided more depth for next year. Really feel like they’re positioned as well as anyone else for the crapshoot that is October baseball.
  6. They went 30-26 the rest of the way and lost the division. Scherzer didn’t pitch in the first two rounds then had a 9.45 ERA in the LCS and pitched 3 innings in the World Series.
  7. At this rate we could repurpose the title of this thread to describe the Orioles defense in July.
  8. If not then they could hold on to him.
  9. Even among perennial winning teams a year like last year is the exception, not the rule. This team has faced much more adversity than last year’s just from injuries alone. Heck, the ‘83 Orioles had two seven-game losing streaks and another separate stretch where they went 5-12. The ‘82 O’s started 2-10. The ‘97 O’s had a 7-12 stretch and a 6-11 stretch.
  10. I’ve noticed MLB.TV carries the Roku feed if you’re out of market. Good if you don’t have a device (Apple TV) with the Roku app.
  11. It’s a 7-day concussion IL, right? With 2 lefties and 4 off-days it would make sense to bring up Norby for the weekend and first game in Texas.
  12. I didn’t realize just how heartbreaking that Game 3 loss was until watching the opening clip. Good thing my parents didn’t let me stay up to watch that game!
  13. Generally the O’s wear black on Fridays (city connect version at home) and orange on Saturdays, although that doesn’t seem as consistent as it used to be.
  14. This. I expect them to be aggressive at the deadline too. And ultimately these teams could see each other in October when anything could happen.
