  1. The rehab process will take care of that. If he's not effective in the MiLs, he won't get brought up.
  2. If anything it's been good for the team stats. Orioles now down to 9th in team ERA and 9th in Runs allowed. ERA+ up to 98.
  3. Yeah, I got to concede the point.
  4. You may be right. You probably are, as they'll do anything to not expose a player.
  5. He'll get chances against lefthanders.
  6. My understanding is the Batting value is scaled to the position they play. I'm fully open to the possibility I'm wrong.
  7. I can't see them optioning Akin.
  8. That would of course be dependent upon postion. I'm just guesstimating and simplifying here but 100 points of OPS might mean 1-2 WAR, whereas 100 points at SS might be 2-3 WAR.
  9. JJ Hardy was slow and he was a GG shortstop. Frazier is plenty fast enough out there at 2b. Where it would affect him would be in the outfield. But I don't see him getting too much time in the outfield, save for the occasional spot start in a small corner outfield- i.e RF at Camden, LF in Bos.
  10. He looks fast enought to me tbh. I appreciate the approach at the plate, and the defense has been pretty good, clearly an upgrade over last year- everyone we put out there, not just Odor.
  11. I'm willing to bet my left testicle that Ortiz is not currently as good a defender as Mateo. We've seen time and again minor leaguers come up and not be what they were advertised defensively, at least not initially. And again, in the sense that aNyThInG iS pOsSiBlE, you are absolutely correct. In reality, you are very likely incorrect, like again, in 90% of scenarios. Sure we could trade Mateo for someone who would help us this year, but wouldn't the team acquiring Mateo be doing it with the intention of winning this year, and be less likely to give up someone who could help them win now? Why, yes, of course they would be. There are scenarios in which trading Mateo could improve this year's club. They are just extremely improbable.
  12. I mean it's fair to criticize the absolutism of my statement, because that is technically incorrect, but in virtually all reasonable realities, teams don't improve in the short term by trading their best defensive player.
  13. Sure, I could win the lottery too. That's pOsSiBlE. Jorge Mateo is our best defensive player. He is our best baserunner. Trading him is 99% likely to make the team worse for the rest of the season.
  14. He's our best defensive player. He's our most valuable baserunner. We would be a worse team without him. No ifs, ands, or buts.
  15. Ironically, of course, the people most eager to make the trade would be at the head of that crowd as well.
  16. I'm not saying I would never do it, but trading Mateo certainly weakens the major league team this year.
  17. With his defense and speed, I believe an 800 OPS Mateo is like a 6-7 win player, which puts him roughly on par with Adley imo.
  18. This is all true. But we also all need to accept he is mortal.
  19. I came here to make the exact same comment. He pitches angry. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
  20. Do you think they changed pitch callers after the first? The issue wasn't what was being called. They hit hrs off both fastballs and breaking balls in the first. The problem was that he couldn't throw a strike that wasn't in the center of the plate.
  21. He could prove he can throw a strike that isn't right down the middle. That would be nice.
  22. Almost like we shouldn't be demanding the FO get rid of productive major leaguers for every bright prospect that floats by.
