  1. It's a possiblity. It may make more sense to trade them; it may make more sense to keep them. Good organizations are going to stay flexible and give themselves as many options as possible. That's why so much of this hurry up and trade them, and hurry up and hand spots to prospects, talk was so misplaced this offseason.
  2. Next year is not his final year of arb. He's not a FA until after the 2025 season.
  3. If we keep facing LHP like this he's going to keep getting ABs. And really there's no good argument against it.
  4. 20 days for non-pitchers. 30 days for pitchers.
  5. Any velocity information? IIRC, he had a forearm strain which is often a precursor to elbow issus. It's possible he's injured.
  6. Since nobody has touched on it the far more interesting question is what does the rotation look like, and the pitching staff in gneral.
  7. I went with 800-849. As the math has already been done that's pretty easy: He needs a 750 OPS the rest of the way. That's my new base expectation for him. As someone else noted: This is similar to Mullins' breakout in 21. Yeah, he's not 1000 OPS guy, but he's a markedly improved hitter.
  8. A couple thoughts to add: It's fair to say we won't win like this with a tougher schedule, but the thing is we won't have to. We're on pace to win like 107 games. We don't need to keep winning at the rate we are to make the playoffs and have a chance there. A stat that should be noted is we are leading the AL in BB. That's huge to me. That's the orgazational philosophy manifesting. I myself am curious about the defense/defensive stats. The outfield that first week was bad. All of them. Since then, to the eye, they've played fairly well, even Santander has made several decent plays out there. Mateo's made an error or two he shouldn't have; Henderson hasn't made too many errors but he hasn't been smooth out there; Frazier and Urias have been at least solid if not much better at 2b, so the IF defense has been pretty solid imo. UZR has us rated well; OAA has us rated very poorly, and yet they have DIFFERENT reasons for doing so. It's a real pickle.
  9. Playing like this he's one of the best players in baseball.
  10. Stowers is a defensive liabilty and has looked awful at the plate this year with the exception of no at-bats.
  11. Look, these things will resolve themselves over the course of the season. Adley will get more days off as the games pile up, allowing more abs for Santander (or whomever) at DH and more opportunities for Stowers in RF and DH. If Frazier doesn't pick it up, not that he's been awful, he'll lose playing time. To who becomes the question. That will depend on Mateo's and Gunnar's performance as well. This team is the best team we've put together since 2014. We're winning over 2/3s of our games. To call what they're doing "mismanagement" simply because they're not doing exactly what you want exactly right now is absurd.
  12. Santander hit 33 hrs last year. Again, the proposition that Stowers is an automatic upgrade over Santander or Hays is not evidenced based.
  13. If Mateo's playing every day, and Gunnar is playing basically every day, and Urias is playing most days, and Frazier is getting some starts at 2b, then there is no place on this team for both Ortiz and Westburg. Simply isn't. You're advocating for something that is literally impossible. There aren't that many abs to go around.
  14. In Baltimore. He's making Santander, even with the slow start, look like Babe Ruth. For God's Sake, he's hitless on the year. I like him well enough, and I want to see him get some opportunities, but just acting like he is automatically some upgrade over Santander or Hays is ridiculous. Edit: My bad. Looks like he singled today. OPS up to 425.
  15. Aren't by spreading out bats across the roster more you're doing the exact opposite of that? Our best players so far have been Mullins, Rutschman, Hays, and Mateo. You're advocating for all of them getting less at bats. You're arguing out of both sides of your mouth. Again.
  16. He's been playing much better lately. He can provide value to this team when he plays like that.
  17. Build a million bridges.......
  18. Winning a lot of baseball games.
  19. Time and again. Remember, Columbe isn't "good."
  20. Whether the team is winning or losing, some people's primary purpose for posting is to posit they could be doing it better.
  21. I'll take that kind of mismanagement every year.
  22. Shocking to me. We seemed to have moved into a new epoch.
