And I believe the prescription is no throwing motion at all during the rehab period to let it heal.   So once he does start throwing again, he will have to build up all over again after some significant time of inactivity.

Correct.  He’s looking at the very least 6 weeks (if it’s not a bad tear and he heals quickly)of training room therapy and running before he even picks up a ball.

Actually, I doubt it’s a grade 3.  If the earlier link is right, grade 3 requires surgery and you would think we would know that now.

So if it’s a grade 2, it might be a bad one.  That puts him out for a month or more.

Could very well be why they are looking at further tests.  Strain is a tear - they are most likely trying to determine how bad it is and best course of action.  If they are that concerned with the original imagining he’s looking at a grade 2 at the least.   I don’t think we see him until mid August at earliest, he will definitely not pitch in Baltimore this year.   He’s gonna need at least 6 weeks of rest before starting any type of baseball activity.  Then they will bring him back very slowly.  And we all know once he starts playing games that will be in Aberdeen.

  3. I’m an Elias supporter and I hated the pick at the time and still hate the pick now.  I don’t know how a rebuilding team passes on a high ceiling SS talent.  With that said, I’m going to pull for Cowser just as much as any other O’s player.  He’s ours now for better or for worse.  I’ve not been impressed at all in the games I’ve seen him play, I’m hoping he can turn things around and start to rake.  Seems like a hard worker with a good head on his shoulders.  Baseball is tough, let’s see if he can figure some things out.

  4. Tony, have you watched Prado play yet?  I got a chance to watch his last few games and came away impressed.  He didn’t light the world on fire but looks like he knows how to hit, has some legit bat speed, and looks like he has a frame to grow into.   He also looks incredibly confident at the plate.  Wondering if he has a chance to crack the top 30 sometime soon or if you still see him as a raw talent project.

  5. He looked like he had his stuff through 4.  5th inning looked different  fastball didn’t pop and off speed wasn’t sharp.  Top 6 first slider wasn’t sharp and then the89  BP fastball.  I think best case scenario is that he all of the sudden felt sick to his stomach, but sure doesn’t seem like that is the case.

  6. Unreal.  I hate being an orioles fan.  He looked different tonight than other times I’ve watched him.  Hope it’s nothing serious.  Maybe he just doesn’t fee well, he just didn’t the  have same presence about him on mound tonight.

His pitching motion looks effortless.  Almost looks like he's playing catch.  I'm watching on Milb.  No velocity given.  61 pitches thru 5.  Is today the day he gets to throw 90+ pitches.

I was curious on velocity as well.  It legit looks like he’s warming up in pen playing catch at slightly over 50% effort.  Almost looks like he’s trying to get contact and go as far in game as possible.  I think they let him go 90 tonight.
