  1. I agree Bautista is the best P in the pen.  Just on intimidation alone hitting off of a 6’8” massive human throwing over 100mph is in your head before stepping into the box.   It looks like they are grooming him to close next year.  I imagine they want to trade Lopez and Tate and rebuild the pen with this year’s failed starters, waiver claims and a rule 5 pick up.

  2. Mancini was on MLB Network Radio last night.  Was talking like a man that knows he’s about to be traded.  Said all the right things, as he always does, but have a sense that he’s looking forward to the next challenge.  Made a point to mention there has been zero talk about extension and even made reference to young guys in Norfolk that would be with the team “for a long time.” Baltimore is all he has known and I’m sure he loves his teammates and the org that gave him an opportunity, but he’s been on some bad teams as a MLBer and I’m sure he’s excited for the next chapter.

Looks like they let him pitch tonight instead of “working on something” and he retired 11 in a row over his first 4IP with only three baserunners in a piggyback type of outing behind DL Hall. Saw him use several pitches effectively.

    He walked one.

His first baserunner was actually a great play but Gutierrez had his foot off the bag at first when picking the low throw, scored an E3.

The other baserunner was a FC on the back end of a potential DP that Westburg couldn’t turn quickly enough.

    Final line 5IP 0H 0R 1BB 6K.

I was impressed.  He is also a massive human being.  Gotta love that frame.

  4. Didn’t watch the game but Denoyer had a solid  line tonight 9ks, 4 Hs, O BBs through 5ip. Gave up 2 ER off a HR.  Will look to watch him next time - from comments and stat lines looks like he could be interesting.

  5. He looked fantastic tonight.  First time I’ve watched him pitch.  He looked completely in control.  I’m excited for his potential. Big guy with some good offerings that he seemingly commands.  I’ll be looking for his next appearance.

There are other reasons not to hurry Hall.  But I’m glad he pitched pretty well tonight after a couple of subpar outings.

Wanted to see him go longer, but sometimes a good night’s work is good for the psyche.

We might see him compete 5!

Not tonight.  Done after 4ip.  Can’t complain with letting him finish on a high note.  That’s about the best I’ve seen him throw this year.

He’s getting no attention thanks to the exploits of Henderson and Westburg, but he’s been extremely steady.

He puts up some hard fought ABs.  He’s a thorn in the pitchers side.  I think folks will like him if comes up and gets steady time.

27% swingstr% for Wells last night.  He only had 3 Ks but if he misses bats like that, the Ks will come.

Didnt see most of the game, so not sure why he only threw 63 pitches.

He had thrown, I believe, 36 pitches through 4.  He was cruising until he ran into a couple tough 6+ pitch ABs.  He worked hard and threw a ton of pitches in the 5th and you could tell he was gassed.  He had a perfect game going and the two tough ABs plus emotions of the moment paid their price and noticeably wore him out.  That was my take.

  10. He has made 3 catches in the last week that I didn’t think he had a chance to make at all.  He’s fun to watch out there.  Palmer made a comment last night that just about every ball to the OF, that doesn’t leave the ballpark, is going to be caught.

I know we have a good system, but these promotions are starting to expose some gaps int he lower levels.  It's getting pretty bare at A and A+.

Multiple top 100 picks in the draft and a couple DSL/FSL standouts should make lower part of system more interesting next year.  Aberdeen is the best team, by record, and they graduate to AA.  Delmarva has been really weak this year.  I think they stand to improve dramatically next year.
