So I looked it up a bit, apparently in England most stadiums sell alcohol but you can't drink it at your seat.  You have to stay at a bar under the stands or the concourse or something.  I didn't know that.  I've only been to one English match and that was in the 5th-tier National League almost 20 years ago. I'm sure I didn't drink anything.

In Germany you absolutely can drink beer at your seat at every match I've been to.  The only weird thing was that a lot of places ask you to turn your plastic cup back in so they can wash it and reuse it.

Never doubted you.  In Germany beer flows like water.  In Spain - no bueno.

Huh, because in most of the rest of Europe beer and alcohol are expected. I've gone to five games in Germany in various divisions and beer was readily available.  I know alcohol is at almost every English stadium. And season ticket prices for Tottenham Hotspur start at about $1000, or $26 a ticket.  Of course they can go up from there, but center of the south stand are only $1400 a year, or less than $50 a match.

Now, as an American for most EPL or Bundesliga or similar matches that are frequently sold out I'd have to get tickets on the secondary market or through some kind of travel package and they could be much more.

  3. If they are going to burn a year of service  time with Westburg & add him to the 40 man, why not bring him up sooner rather than later?

  4. Odor taking third base on defensive indifference, while seemingly meaningless, really threw Iglesias’ concentration off.  Couple pitches later make the mistake that Adley popped into the go.  Really an incredible series of events in the 9th.  I think I’ve watched it like 5 times now.

I follow a Twitter feed called Footy Scran.  They post pictures, descriptions and prices of food and drink from soccer stadiums around the world.  US sports food/drink prices are routinely laughed at.  You can get six beers in a carrier at Borussia Dortmund in Germany for the cost of a single beer at many US venues.

A sausage, some fries, and a beer at a Brazilian match might be like $6-8, in Europe probably $12-15, in the US it's $25.

The other day someone posted a nice plate of assorted BBQ from Sporting Kansas City for $10 and the response was something like holy f'ing @##$%$%, that must be the cheapest food in the entire country, let's all go to KC.

First time I went to a La Liga game I walked around stadium twice looking for a beer.  When I finally asked someone, he was like…  Yea, we don’t sell alcohol here, there is already problems with violence in and around the stadium.  Alcohol sales during games would only exacerbate the problem. The Ticket to the game, however, was close to 100 euro.

  6. That’s when you move him up.  When they stop pitching to him.  Young man looks like a pretty good hitter.  The stockpile of LH hitters is looking pretty solid with his addition and Cowser’s hot streak.

  7. Maybe they DFA him today so he can end his Baltimore tenure on a high note after last nights game tying HR?  One can hope.  Pretty sure the guys in the dugout, who have been playing with Westburg the last two years, would be pretty excited to have him on the team.  The Ra Ra nonsense is great for TV sound bites, but I don’t but into it too much.  Making plays in the field and hitting the ball is gonna win you more games.

By not promoting Westburg and Henderson this season Elias  is allowed to protect two other players from the Rule 5 draft in December.  I think there is a good chance he does just that.

Very Good point.  With that said, I’d be shocked if Westburg  isn’t up this later this year and doesn’t  have an IF positioned locked down going into 2023.  It’s time to win now & there are pieces in the pipeline behind him.  If he comes up and performs his value skyrockets.

  9. Dang Y’all.  All this after the best win of the year?  I guess the positive take away is that there are still a bunch of passionate Os fans out there.   Play nice peeps - all your contributions keep the board entertaining and informative.  Go O’s!

  10. You never know when these guys have fairly serious nagging injuries that don’t put them on the IL.  It’s a grind and almost all these guys are playing through pain.  Most guys that take/took PEDs aren’t doing it to boost their stats but rather just to stay on the field.  Wish him luck in his next adventure.  (Pure speculation)

Glad to heat Caleb is doing some broadcasting. I always thought he would be a natural analyst if he didn't get into coaching.

I listened to him call the game as well and Caleb did a fantastic job.  It was really cool to hear his insights and also to hear an opposing announcer gushing at our young talent.  He also made a hilarious comment about Adley’s no RBI streak throwing himself under the bus.  Seems like an all around great guy.

His value right now would be as part of a package for a higher end player, probably starting pitcher, with years of control.

So, if there is a pitcher like that out there and Wells is a desired target for that team, I think it becomes possible he is traded but that’s the only scenario I see.

Everyone is always available, but he is one guy  I’d need a lot for.  He seems to have the physical talent and the mental aptitude required to be a successful MLB pitcher.

I was worried about the consequences of another loss today.   Glad to stop the streak before it turned into much.

Gutsy performance after two heartbreaking losses.  Says a lot about the team.  If I were on a playoff contender with Os on my calendar I wouldn’t get too excited.  These guys come out to play every night and expect to win.

Don't know why they would do that if Lopez and Tate's ERAs are under 2.50.

Sell high.  BP pieces are replaceable  & highly volatile.  6’8” 260 lb pitchers that throw 101 don’t grow on trees - so I’d like to see them keep him.  Seems to me he’s most likely of the three to have sustained future success.
