  1. Second half of 2024 would be a good time to get his 1st one for the O’s.
  2. There’s a first time for everything.
  3. The walks are maddening
  4. Check out Cowswer’s #s this year compared to Gunnar’s first half last year. Very similar.
  5. Cowser is a great hitter. He’s going to be special.
  6. Pretty sure she called a game for the A’s recently….. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C8ua1BQuCXz/?igsh=cjUwNjE0MWE3Mjh3
  7. I second this for exactly the same reason. Pitch clock is easily the best thing that’s happened to the game in my lifetime.
  8. With bat tracking data available now, the pitchers will continue to excel at a faster pace than the batters. They will be able to pinpoint when, where, why a hitter has an A,B, or C swing. Small holes in the swing will get exploited. The “books” on the batters are going to be much more detailed and fine tuned. I see the offense dropping off even more moving forward.
  9. I heard he never gave up a grand slam.
  10. Thats true, but I think that’s the easiest way to get him the bulk of ABs he’ll receive. Supplement those ABs with DH vs. LHP.
  11. If they put Urias on waivers I they’d be able to force a trade. Do it.
  12. 1. Felix Bautista 2. Zach Britton I’ve never seen complete dominance like I’ve seen with Bautista. Batters struggle to make contact. The man looks like WWE star in his prime. Intimidation factor, plus raw stuff, plus results makes him my #1. Britton a close second. The year he was throwing the 9mph sinker he was flat out incredible. But if I had to choose a player in their prime to close a game, I go Bautista.
  13. Can he pitch? Joking.
  14. You are aware that Holliday is not playing any defense currently? And won't be for at least a few more weeks.
  15. I mean, every pitch is tracked in real time. It’s just a matter of someone putting the image up on the Jumbotron.
  16. Correct. And one big yelling match between ump & manager is gonna be a lot longer than the alotted challenges.
  17. It’s really fast. Batter, catcher, or pitcher taps their head and then shortly after the pitch appears on the JumboTron with the graphic & the call.
  18. Suarez was a FA depth move. He has covered 53ip @ 2.70 era. They knew they needed one additional SP at trade deadline as is still the case. They started the season with: 1. Burnes 2. GRod 3. Kremer 4. Wells 5. Irvin 6. Suarez 7. Bradish IL 8. Means IL 9. Povich 10. McDermott Four of those are on the IL & 3 of those aren’t coming back this year. They are into their deep depth now, but that is why they had 10 guys stacked up. When Kremer comes back they will have 6 guys who can start. They will pick up another starter before the deadline. I think it’s more or less gone as they expected.
  19. It takes like 15 seconds. Really quick. Only happens a handful of times a game. Probably adds about 2-3 minutes total.
  20. Does Kimbrel have a 1 run save yet?
  21. Time for a crooked number.
  22. I don’t think you have to ignore PEDs. I think you have to look at it under the context of: 1. PEDs have been part of baseball since the inception and continue to be a part of the game. They are part of the fabric of the game whether we like it or not. Read any book about baseball from the 20s-70s and PED use was rampant. 2. In his specific era, MLB looked the other way, almost encouraged the use, and almost all players were using PEDs (whether that be needle use or other products). Even if they weren’t using a banned substance, they were using some type of PED. 3. Players who admitted to usage (or even were very strongly assumed to be users) have never even come close to what he was able to do in every facet of the game. What he did showed the absolute pinnacle of baseball ability/achievement. He was the most entertaining player to watch while he was at his peak. The fact that he dwarfed all other players, who were using, in every part of the game (defense, base running, contact ability, swing decision, power) showed his greatness. He was almost 2x better than the league average player over his career and for a span of 4 years was 2.5X better than the league average player. He was the greatest player ever and we will never see anything like it again.
  23. If you were to strip Barry Bonds of all 7 of his MVP seasons…… He would still have 440 HR & 359 SB…. Which no one else in the game has ever done.
