  1. The way the blue chip FA contracts are going lately is that they're only 2-3 years at a time to keep up with market value. I'd spend our ownership's money at $50m/yr to keep Burnes for 2-3 more years. Let someone else pay him in 2027 or 2028.
  2. Needlenose Ced? Ced the Head? BING!
  3. Took it out to the warning track by the tall wall in RF. Wouldn't say he crushed it, but encouraging based on what we've seen so far.
  4. That's what I thought I heard. LOL. Yeah, kind of a dumb question for April 17. (even though the answer is yes, even if we don't win 102 games)
  5. Anyone watching the broadcast just catch the question someone (Rich?) asked O'Hearn about whether he thinks the team can get better? Was interested in the exact question and response, but my DVR isn't letting me rewind at the moment.
  6. We are leading MLB in team HRs, but the ball is FLYING out of the yard this year IMO. I still stipulate that we typically don't see this sort of action until early May, particularly with the LF wall, but maybe my memory is not serving me in this instance.
  7. Do you hate Cal more or less than you hated the Angelos Cartel? Just trying to get a gauge on exactly how irrational you are about this.
  8. Agree. This is why I hope this doesn’t continue much longer.
  9. Remind me… Was Gunnar ever sent back down once he got up here? If that happened, I don’t remember it. I definitely think that Jackson is here to stay, but I wasn’t expecting his first week to be so anemic.
  10. Good reminder. But for an SP vs an everyday player, Jackson may only get a few weeks. Hope it doesn’t come to fruition. I’m not familiar with his scouting report, but he seems to be swinging at a ton. Is that his game, or is he just young and pressing too much? Or both?
  11. Knowing this place, I’m not the only one wondering, but maybe I’m the first one to put it out there. How long of a leash does Jackson have before he’s sent down for a little reset like they did for Rodriguez last year? Obviously, I hope he makes this post look stupid by the end of the week, but I do wonder if there is any point at which a healthy Jackson Holliday isn’t on the big league roster.
  12. Cowser and Holliday could put ur offense over the top this year. Cowser is really locked in right now… fun to watch.
  13. There's only 1 reason why he was called into that office last night, and Buck was not hiding it well. LOL
  14. Watch me. You have no idea how high I can fly.
  15. I notice this sort of thing as well. But it doesn't have much context if you're not also considering where he's being pitched. I took a minute to look at his highlights from yesterday afternoon. He pulled the sac fly with some authority on an inside pitch. The 2 run double was low and down the middle, maybe a hair inside. Looked like he was letting the ball travel to me, so a good approach. The double off the wall was high and inside, which I thought was curious since he hit it with such authority. Combined with the other double, I think he was looking to go LCF at Fenway, which is absolutely a good approach there for LH hitters. No sense in trying to go to CF, RCF, or RF at Fenway; that's where fly balls go to die.
  16. This is the even more exciting thing here IMO. Yes, J-Ho is going to be fun to watch. We probably have the best MI combo in the galaxy for the next 5 years now. But there's STILL more to come and our ceiling will be pushed even higher.
  17. Why not? We've made it about everything else.
  18. Aiden Hutchinson was the #1 overall pick in the NFL draft recently. I think they're playing other sports.
  19. Funny you mention that, because I'm 99% certain we got drunk Ben McDonald the day we beat Tampa in extras to take the season series from them. I don't think KB is much of a drinker. I looked at his Twitter a while ago, and I think he is or was a big runner.
  20. Stowers is a better OF defender. So yes, I'm okay with that. And if Stowers doesn't do better, then you go to Kjerstad, who I (and I would imagine most of us) would believe would absolutely do better than O'Hearn. Good to have multiple options. I'm also on record saying that I believe Stowers and Norby will be traded, so when I say replace O'Hearn with Stowers, I probably really mean Kjerstad. Problem there is that you can't bring up Stowers to fix a short-term problem and risk him falling on his face and making him even less valuable. Yes he's old for a prospect and yes everyone probably remembers his lackluster cup of coffee a while ago, but this surge has to be doing something to boost his value. I don't think it can be ignored. Again, for a team that is really maxing out its 26 man roster, there are plenty of ABs to go around for so many good players. It's not that I think O'Hearn is bad, it's that I absolutely think he should never see the outfield again, and that he's better in a limited role. Yes, he OPS'd .800 last year, but go look up how many ABs he had. He's better in a part time role. It's been pointed out that we really only have 1 everyday position player, and that's Gunnar. Rutschman, Santander, Westburg, Mullins, and Mountcastle are the next tier of regular, majority starters. Hays, Cowser, O'Hearn, and McCann are the third platoon tier that are either in a platoon with each other (Hays & Cowser), or on the short end of one (O'Hearn & McCann). And Mateo, Kemp, and Urias are at the end of the bench. At least this is how I view the roster for now.
  21. Don't want to platoon Mountcastle, but maybe he plays 5 games a week. O'Hearn is better in a limited role, IMO. Plenty of ABs to go around for Stowers, Mullins, and Cowser. Maybe you forgot that Santander is a switch hitter. Hays to sit vs RHPs and we have 3 LH bats in the OF and Santander DH'ing, assuming Stowers is a defensive upgrade in RF.
  22. I haven't read this whole thread so I'm sorry if I'm parroting a theme here, but I'm sure I wasn't the only one that was pretty annoyed that Tony Kemp was batting in a situation to potentially win the game for us this weekend. Even if that was Stowers, I would have felt better. Kemp has no place on this team. Not when we have the overall infield and organizational depth that we do. Stowers or Kjerstad for Kemp seems like a no brainer to me right now. Keep O'Hearn and Mateo out of the OF so we have plenty of IF depth on the ML roster. I also don't really love starting Mountcastle and O'Hearn together as that kind of defeats their platooning/depth purpose of carrying both of them.
  23. KB with the sly RHCP reference during the snow in Pittsburgh. This guy.
