  1. But to pick this kid, here, they have to have one or two really singled out. You don't make this move with a list 10 deep.
  2. He was such an unexpected pick I don't know him well enough to throw that label on him. I loathed the Hobgood pick as soon as it was made.
  3. Or maybe, just maybe, he was actually at the top of their board. Yes, I was laughing when I typed that.
  4. The main issue I have with this strategy is what if other teams select your overslot targets?
  5. Best player available right? Folks need to learn to not believe anything the GM tells you. Their is no advantage in them telling the truth.
  6. They said similar things about Vaughn and AR last year. I think it's a reoccurring theme.
  7. Crap, I'm out of practice being outraged by decisions I don't agree with. I hope I don't pull something.
  8. Now when the Nats selected Harper as an outfielder, that was noteworthy.
  9. Could just be posturing to get Martin locked into a number before the pick.
  10. Manfred strikes me as the honest sort, I say we give him a chance.
  11. This looks to be slightly dated but the prices are probably pretty close. https://www.webstaurantstore.com/blog/628/beer-hot-dog-and-ticket-prices-at-major-league-baseball-parks.html As you can see no one is charging anything close to 10 bucks for a traditional hotdog. Maybe if the O's cut their exorbitant hotdog prices more fans would come to the games?
  12. Witt, who was a high school player, signed for slot. I can't find anyone under the current agreement that signed for overslot that were picked this high. As a college player with less leverage I'll be disappointed if they can't save a least 200K on this pick.
  13. Autorenewing is going to cause more acrimony than the initial signing. I said a couple hundred grand. To me that isn't what Weams meant.
  14. I also get ticked off when I make a bad deal only to realize it later.
  15. I have no issue with your take. Except I would have not included the word probably.
  16. To flat out say that in all situations it is "beyond stupid" to not pick the BPA is incredibly shortsighted. Do you think Nick Markakis was at the top of the O's draft board when they picked him?
  17. Sure. And maybe your BPA won't make it either. But maybe that overslot kid you picked at #30 does. You could make the case that getting two more highly rated players increases your odds of getting one that sticks.
  18. Considering I don't have access to any of the evaluations teams have used you are safe in your challenge. That being said you maximize your value. I'm not saying it is the best move all or even some of the time, but situations do exist.
