I think odds are really good that he takes the 1/20 then hits the market in a year knowing he can't be tagged again. As I asked earlier, would you give up a draft pick to give Santander a contract that is more tempting then a 1/20 deal? I wouldn't. I don't think Elias, or Angelos, is interested in a surprise 20M addition to the payroll.

Something between #1 and #2 depending on how the rest of the AL East shakes out. A healthy Rays teams probably finishes with more than 101 wins in 2023. If that happens in 2024 you tip your cap and take your wildcard. Once you get to the playoffs all bets are off.

Maybe that Dominican Academy we heard so much about will get finished at some point.

You did see where he didn't have issues against RHP before this season right? It might very well be a one year thing.

We have no way of knowing how much his vertigo impacted his early numbers. Maybe he was dealing with it for weeks, maybe only a day or two. We've seen him look lost before.

He's got over 1600 MLB at bats. His OPS+ last season was only three higher than his career average. I think we've got a fair idea who he is.

Evidently it isn't as easy as you think because i was clearly talking about a "Gunnar" situation in which a player is brought up late enough to insure they would have rookie eligibility for next season despite what the team might have needed. That didn't happen this year. Do I think they should have called up players quicker? Sure, but there isn't anyone analogous to Gunnar.

Not "Gunnar style". They weren't held down to maintain rookie eligibility for next season. I know this stuff is hard. I do think it's funny you had to log off for a half an hour to come up with a response. Were you mistaking Hugo Chavez for Cesar Chavez and having it mess up your google results?

This goes back to the fangraphs stuff. This year's team both won more games than their RS/RA would indicate and they scored more runs than their underlying metrics would predict. Neither of those are generally sustainable year to year.

You don't think they are going to be at ST, fine. But why wait that long? Why not after 200 at bats? I think folks are way too caught up in service time manipulation and/or the bonus draft pick for RoY. Even if you hold him back Jackson isn't going to be a lock for RoY.

They didn't employ that strategy this year. What a stupid thing to misunderstand. You gave two conditions. Did they contend. Did they use that strategy Why you would think I was talking about contending I have no idea. I'd be embarrassed if I made a mistake like that.
