I think that folks here LOVE to complain about the strike zone and the next day, when the scorecards come out, they don't say a peep because most of the time, the Ump actually did a pretty good job. The best is when folks bitch about it all game and the next day's scorecard shows the Ump actually favored the O's.

Some of them are demonstrably less best than others.

Sure, and I don't know much myself. It just seemed an apt comparison if you factor in the 100+ years difference. Players today can't be abused and any hardship will have to be mostly self-inflicted.

While I obviously didn't see this coming I also didn't see a reason to ramp them up as slowly as they did. Grayson in particular should have been allowed to pitch deeper into games.

I have to call you out of this one. I live in a somewhat rural area that has a number of personal dumpsters that I pass by on my daily walks. I've yet to find a reliever in one of them and with as hot as it is down here, if I did they would hardly be shivering.
