  1. You can't plan to have position players pitch 4+ innings. I don't understand why teams don't take advantage of the ability to forfeit games. Sure you could only do it once before they'd amend the rules but as far as I know the team could just forfeit, take the 9-0 L and piss everyone else off. Just don't do it at home.
  2. Nothing unrealistic about the current system. The only reason folks are saying anything is that they are rooting for a playoff team with a gassed pitching staff. If the O's were 20 games out would this thread exist? This is on Elias and Hyde for not compensating for this stretch.
  3. I was including the position players. I think the team as a whole is wearing down.
  4. Has anyone been in a situation like this one? Even Trevor Baurer isn't a good comp.
  5. Are you going to exclude cold weather cities from hosting games at the start of the year? You want to see snow at games? The season (with postseason) is pretty long as it is, can they afford to add another two weeks?
  6. It's really hard to win 110 games. It's happened seven times total. My guess is that some of those "lucky" wins would be normal wins.
  7. Interesting you would go with Westburg or Santander. One is a six year of team control guy and the other would be a one year rental. I can't fathom a team giving up a good pre-arb pitcher for one year of Santander at arb 3.
  8. It's fine, he totes wants to sign a 30 year lease. He said so.
  9. Which teams do really well against good low and away breaking pitches?
  10. I get that but this doesn't look like random dumb thoughts. This looks like some really bad plan of action.
  11. Isn't the last month of the season the best time to schedule a stretch like this? You do have the slightly expanded roster. Do you want to do it in April when the pitchers might not be fully stretched out and you have a bunch of issues with weather? Do you want to do it in July and August when it is brutally hot in a lot of the country? Ideally they shorten the season and just have more off days but that ain't happening.
  12. He's probably going to have to raise prices to afford to pay for an Elias extension.
  13. If he makes his debut next season he might not even be the youngest player in the league. More and more teams are going back to promoting elite prospects at a younger age. I've been beating this drum for years, development can and will continue at the major league level. How old was Griffey, A-Rod?, Soto, Harper, Machado? Was their development hurt by getting promoted aggressively? Some players need to methodically advance through the minor leagues, some don't.
  14. I just don't understand why he can't keep his mouth shut until the season is over. Is he actually this stupid? What is the benefit of doing this now?
  15. Are they positive moves? Notice neither really cost in terms of payroll or prospects.
  16. Hyde needed Elias to make more of a positive impact with his moves to bolster the pitching staff. Second lowest payroll in the league, top farm and the best you can do is Flaherty and Fuji?
  17. But...but...but...everyone was happy with his defense yesterday? Frazier isn't very good but a disproportionate number of his moments of competence are in big moments. Is there value in that? I'd rather have someone who is more talented even it if comes with a more even distribution.
  18. I didn't get why they picked him up. Not like you have time to "fix" someone.
