  1. First off that's ridiculous and secondly I'm not saying Mullins is the MVP, just that I'd put him ahead of O'Hearn, who I also don't think is the team MVP. It's Gunnar by a wide margin.
  2. Woe is me. O'Hearn is a great story. He doesn't play enough. Even missing time to injury Mullins has impacted more games. He also impacts games more with his glove and on the basepaths.
  3. You have to be something first. His only season prior to this one that was above replacement was his rookie season in which he played like 44 games. This is more like a most improved player situation.
  4. Can we get some sort of meme for folks whining about how unfair the strikezone is? It's terribly unoriginal and in almost every case the ump sheet that comes out the next day shows the guy did a mostly OK job.
  5. Was more of a blurb than a full story.
  6. I forget the details but they were relocated.
  7. /shrug. I just don't care for it as a strategy, especially when they don't really know how long the player will be out for.
  8. I think the plan is to use Bautista in the playoffs if he appears capable of helping and then have him get surgery in the offseason. I also think he is 100% on board with the idea.
  9. You can easily put the manager in a situation in which he is sorely tempted to rush a player back.
  10. I don't think most players that get to this level have an issue dealing with high stress situations.
  11. Was a great bunt. But who knows if it would have come to that?
  12. Yea, I hate when they keep injured players on the active roster in the hope that they recover more quickly than the IL stint length.
  13. I don't believe in friendship.
  14. So why can't he perform at that level all the time? I'll take someone that is less clutch but puts up better numbers consistently. That at bat in the third and the sixth might end up making more of a difference than that one in the 9th.
  15. No one is suggesting that it isn't possible for one or all of them to make the occasional big play. Doesn't mean the team is the better for playing them over other options.
  16. You are more trusting than I am. I think the difference here is that with Fiers the story went public and MLB had to do something. We have evidence that other teams over the last 120 years have done similar things. MLB has a history of not caring until the fans find out and get upset. I'd say the Black Sox even fall under that.
  17. Oh geez not this again. It's like the steroid and spider tack all over. Are you saying it's fine to cheat as long as you aren't too good at it? You can cheat a little, that's fine...but don't get too big an advantage! But we won't tell you where the line is. 70's steroids, those are fine. But don't go getting high end stuff that's custom made! That's too much! Bullfrog and resin? Go for it! But don't use that Spidertack, it's too sticky! Got a guy in the stands relying signs? That's A-Ok! But don't get too fancy with that modern technology! Cheating is cheating and folks that laugh at Bartolo Colon using steroids while complaining about Bonds just confuse the heck out of me.
  18. They were the sacrificial goat to appease the fanbase. Have to give the masses their pound of flesh once they get riled up. And as I just posted, outsiders stealing signs wasn't new. The shot heard round the world anyone?
  19. Not even sure what you mean by this? All teams had players using Steroids, HGH and Greenies. All teams have had players applying foreign substances to the ball. Teams have been stealing signs and relaying them to their players for over a century. Ty Cobb in 1926: Baseball has long glorified cheating.
  20. A player that just happened to hold a grudge and was playing for a division rival. He wasn't some heroic whistleblower.
