  1. So you would have sent Machado and Markakis to AAA to check some boxes?
  2. Not it doesn't. Nothing about the Gausman trade had anything to do with the O's not having faith in him. It had to do with trading an asset to lower payroll obligations. They hadn't lost faith in Hader, he was one of three pieces in a deal to help the team in the short term. Trying to go dictionary on me was a decent effort, but ultimately futile.
  3. It bothers me because it takes no more effort to put topics where they belong than it does to just spam Orioles Talk. To me it shows a lack of respect for what Tony has built here. That is also a board moderator you are questioning.
  4. Cool. Since you are looking at Oxford you might want to check the Oxford Languages entry for "give up on":
  5. Hader? How did they "give up" on Hader? He was a 19 year old in A ball when they traded him. They also didn't give up on Gausman. They were going into a full rebuild and he was an asset that was going to be gone before they were competitive again. Jake they gave up on.
  6. You can't just substitute quantity for quality. Sometimes you can find a team that is trying to rebuild and has an honest need for quantity but it isn't a given. I've not heard anything about the Cardinals planing a full tear down rebuild.
  7. If I'm him I'm going to want an extra year or two tacked onto my contract. I wouldn't want to uproot myself for a year and a half than have to do it again going into my age 37 season.
  8. So you are going to just ignore my example because you want to. OK. I'd consider starting 18 out of 34 significant, especially since some of that was to game Gunnar's service clock so he wouldn't lose RoY eligibility.
  9. I love the hubris that the O's can get quality players back by trading chaff. You got the old one-two punch of trying to dump players the poster doesn't like and the idea that four relatively unappealing players is somehow going to get it done. You trade a lower tier prospect and you get Cole Irvin in return.
  10. Davis. Odor pretty much got sat down last year when Gunnar came up.
  11. Was that before or after he opens the books?
  12. It will get done. No way John isn't taking the 600M. My guess is he is trying to get as little oversight on the spending as he can.
  13. Brnovich is 25 and has 108 career IP despite being drafted in 2019. It's cool that Elias remembered his name but I'm not holding my breath.
  14. Except I have the money in the account. Everyone knows I made 50 grand last year and only had 30 grand in expenses.
  15. Overpay by his market evaluation. If I need a car and I'm only willing to spend five grand and the market is higher than that I can pride myself on not overpaying...as I walk to work.
  16. Is it? It depends on the level of talent present in the top 100 list. I'm not talking about Ortiz in particular here but the concept that a Top 100 prospect might not be regarded as a future everyday player. Some lists are just going to be weaker than others. A guy might be #98 in one year and would have placed #140 in another year, or #40.
  17. I think seven is pretty much the same as 100. Both numbers are pretty close to meaningless.
  18. Are we really expecting anyone other than the obvious choice of Frazier to make it?
  19. Oh, I know the details. I'm also capable of looking them up to verify before I post erroneous information.
