  1. That's assuming the White Sox are reasonable and the other team somehow doesn't need him to pitch in the playoffs.
  2. I heard the throw hit the runner. I'm trying to figure out how he only has six assists in 131 innings.
  3. Not if they want him to pitch in the playoffs. Or out of the pen.
  4. I'll agree that he was a bad defense Shortstop back in 2015. Not sure why you bring it up.... But cool, you got your eye test.
  5. Can you explain the numbers Mayo is putting up at first in the minors? He has six errors in 131 innings. His E/A ratio is one. Mountcastle has three errors in 743 innings. His E/A ratio is 3/50.
  6. I don't see why any team would acquiesce to that demand.
  7. Do you want to trade for him and find out if he's bluffing?
  8. I can certainly judge that RIGHT NOW Mayo is not a ML first baseman. If you were talking about next season I'd have a different opinion. Good get on Walker. I still say first base (and catcher) metrics are wonky compared to other positions.
  9. So how did Norby look today? I didn't get a chance to watch the game.
  10. Buddy, that ain't the way to get out. I don't see anyone picking him up during the season.
  11. Compared to what we've been seeing from Mayo? Are you serious? Mountcastle is a competent ML First Baseman. I think the idea that his arm, at first, is doing damage is "overstated". It's also just about impossible to grade out as being an asset on defense as a First Baseman. You could probably put Gunnar over there and he wouldn't grade well.
  12. Hyde's strength as a manager isn't in game strategy. I think he's probably really good at the off the field stuff, which is also important.
  13. It's not that long. I get why he would want security but I wouldn't trade a ton for a guy that is leaking this stuff.
  14. Except Mountcastle can actually be an asset on defense.
  15. We could trade Mountcastle for Mountcastle. Bet we could get him cheap.
  16. But if they don't have any additional sources of data? Also, I think they want their lines to maximize action. For instance Yankee players tend to attract more action and that action changes the odds.
  17. I just don't see how their view has any more importance than what Sports guy thinks.
  18. You can't do that with Kimbrel because what if you get save situations two days in a row after pitching him? He ain't going three days in a row. So he gathers dust.
  19. Sure wish we had a guy like Scott in the pen.
  20. I'd have gone with a Ronnie Lott reference.
  21. Or too many days in a row.
  22. OK? What does that have to do with what I said? These guys got to the majors with the reputation of being able to control the strike zone. I think they are being told to be more aggressive with what they think are pitches they can do damage with.
  23. They didn't even have to travel.
  24. What's going to happen when these poor guys get into their late 20's? They are going to need naps during the games.
