There is one good reason. It's baseball. Highly touted prospects underachieve expectations every year. Guys come out of nowhere every year. I don't trust AAA stats much at all anymore, not with the ABS system and the depleted pitching.

I think with Gunnar it was as easy as shutting him down a week early. I think that would have happened with or without a pick.

I get that guys get hurt. I'll agree that he could get hurt his next start and miss a year. But folks here are acting like it's a 20 to 1 shot he makes it to free agency without needing surgery.

I think this season has shown that you can't be planning around your guys winning ROY. What's best for the team and the player is more important than a chance at a draft pick.
