  1. I own the 5th inning. By Jorge Lopez Destroyed by Orioles pitching: how I lost the 2021 MVP. by Vlad Guerrero, Jr.
  2. Get this guy up to the majors, lets see what he's got. The Dodgers obviously got the best of the Manny trade, but it would be a plus if Diaz can stick in the majors, even as a 4th OF. At least the O's didn't have to pay $30 million for Diaz like the Dodgers did. I believe $15 mill went to Diaz and a $15 mill tax if my memory serves me right.
  3. It will be hard to catch the DBacks. I have watched the DBacks, but they seem to be a better team than the O's, just unlucky (or lucky if you're trying to get the #1 pick). They're 16th in runs and their pitching is about as bad as the O's. Maybe worse, when you adjust for the DH. They are on quite a streak, 6-43, and over a shorter stretch, 4-37. So they are barely at a 12% win percentage over their last 50 games.
  4. Yeah, would like to see anyone other than Urias. He's pretty much a utility player w/ no bat.
  5. Sad to hear about Galvis injury, who will get the call up to cover for him?
  6. If I remember right, he had a great 3 or so games, and O's fan were like "Yeah, the next O's outfielder" and then Fiorentino started hitting like you imagined an average A hitter in MLB would hit.
  7. I work night shift, so I'm up very late, even when I'm not working. Just easier than trying to shift back and forth between days and nights.
  8. Out late celebrating the last O's win? They don't come very often, so its easy to go overboard.
  9. He was so great, he didn't even need AA.
  10. I went to the game tonight. He seems to have an advanced knowledge and ability to control the strike zone. The pitchers seemed scared to throw him strikes. Adley was DH'ing and the other catcher Hudgins made little effort to control the running game. Adley just looks like a big guy. IMO, he's probably closer to 240 than 220, but not fat. Maybe that was his college weight.
  11. How does Bannon look at 2B? I think he's more of a utility player, but I would rather see him get some reps than Franco. Are the O's worried about service time clocks on utility players now?
  12. Davis has been helping the team tank since 2018 and gets no credit. What a team player!
  13. Rays have had a history of extending some players. It was probably done with the thought of increasing their trade value some. Archer, Snell, Kiermaier, and Longoria are some of the players they have extended. If the most financially strapped MLB organization can sign players to extensions, so can the Orioles. The Orioles might not be signing players to stay with the Orioles, but to increase their trade values. What the Orioles can't do is take All-Star players to their free agent walk year and expect a discount on signing them. This leads to debacles like Mussina and Chris Davis.
  14. Don't teams sign about 25 guys every year? A lot of the guys in the lower rounds below 20, take a college scholarship, which has a lot more value than $10k or whatever they offer late round picks.
  15. Love the heights 9 May- Obviously 5'9", but did anyone check the list after a computer compiled it?
  16. The DJ and Grenier picks were widely panned. I'm glad that DJ has at least made it to the majors as a part time player. Most teams would not think that picking a defensively limited player who needs his swing reworked in the 1st round is a good pick. I'm hoping for the best for Elias and I don't blame him for mistakes in drafts before he got here like some national experts.
  17. Trying to go underslot with the 1st round pick. The O's have been doing this for years. it seems to be an organizational philosophy (maybe ownership). There have been so many picks where the O's took a pick who was a reach in the 1st round. DJ, Grenier, Hobgood, etc, etc.
  18. He was a top 50 prospect at one point. Might have even been top 25.
  19. Who is the 2nd best prospect because I don't see the O's getting the best record with the DBack uber tanking.
  20. The O's had a very poorly thought out draft strategy. Of course they didn't know he would get Covid, that would be stupid.
  21. Did the Kjerstad misadventure teach the O's nothing? When you're team is blessed w/ a top 5 pick (an the MLB team is obviously unblessed), taking the best player available is common sense. I don't understand giving up drafting a premium talent to draft a slighter higher talent level player in the later rounds. I don't see how downgrading the #2 pick to the 10th best talent is made up with getting the 80th best talent in the 100th slot *not the actual slots, just an example).
  22. So many people on here want to trade Means and Mullins. An ace starting pitcher and an All Star, Gold Glove caliber CF are two of the hardest positions to fill on a team. There is no guarantee that the trade return will fill their spots or 2 equivalent spots.
  23. No way am I trading a young All Star CF for some prospects. To even consider the trade, I would want a premium top 25 prospect near major league ready. That prospect would head a package of 3 or 4 other prospects. Other teams wouldn't give up that package, so Mullins wouldn't be traded.
  24. Pat has carved out a nice career for himself in the NBA. He is a very valuable member of their team and I was surprised to learn he has a 44" vertical. Obviously he made the right choice choosing basketball over baseball.
