  1. Did O'Hearn make it back to the Orioles' system? I don't see anything about anyone claiming him or a trade...
  2. Seems like a solid pick up, maybe insurance for Vespi. Good K numbers and was decent for the Red Sox from 2019-2021. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/hernada02.shtml
  3. I would say call Boston up about Urias or Mateo, but they don't really have anyone I'd want.
  4. It just makes too much sense for the Orioles to trade for a Marlins starter.
  5. They are significantly behind on making trades.
  6. If signing Abreu and Bassitt - who are not the top free agents on the market (not even close) is not "realistic" to the Orioles, then the Orioles are more pathetic than we give them credit for.
  7. Good post/question. Without giving it too much thought , I would have signed Bassitt for 3 years 63, Abreu for 3 years 58.5, and be trying to trade for another pitcher like Carrasco of Lopez. I am fine with the Givens and McCann moves.
  8. Roch would try to sell us on the return of Colby Rsmus lol.
  9. Agreed. I was thinking of using gravy for my metaphor, but good gravy would save the mediocore turkey, etc.
  10. It's like putting all your time, money, and energy into making amazing dinner rolls for Thanksgiving, and ignoring the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie.
  11. Exactly. Why are we wasting time on the 39th/40th spots on the 40 man roster instead of acquiring players that will actually make a difference in 2023?
  12. I believe so, yes. He'd go to AAA and be off the 40. No clue how the salary works.
  13. Maybe this means the Orioles will still try to acquire a decent left-handed bat (or any other-handed bat) to upgrade the offense? Good points btw regarding the 40 and stashing first baseman in AAA.
  14. Yup. Lazy/cheap/too risk averse. The Orioles should have beaten their offer for Eovaldi. The Orioles should have beaten/matched the Jays' offer for Bassitt. Time will tell.
  15. This. Especially with how low the payroll currently is, with Gunnar/Adley/GrayRod making pennies. It amazes me that people defend the Orioles not adding better players this offseason.
  16. The 2023 Orioles - Trying to Simply Sneak into the Playoffs Instead of Improving the Team.
  17. This is really the bottom line for me. It has been a bad offseason because they have been too cheap/lazy/surprised by the market? to add good players, when it seemed like that was the goal this offseason. Why are they incapable of adding good players?
  18. I think he wanted to do all of this and ownership reached out to him and was like "um, we are not loosening the purse strings like you may have thought," and Elias has had to change his goals.
  19. Gunnar should have come up earlier, or yea, Vavra should have gotten an opportunity earlier. Odor was pretty rough, but he did produce some fond memories.
