  1. That's what ownership wants the fans to think... or that Austin Voth can repeat his unexpected success from 2022, so why fork over millions of dollars for someone with a proven track record?
  2. Maybe slightly better than Boston's. Significantly worse than the other 3.
  3. Right. I may be wrong, but I would think if they match 3 years 63, with Walltimore and the knowledge that fellow free agent Gibson took our deal over the Jays, good chance Bassitt signs here too. If it turns out the Orioles offered the same deal and he chose the Jays, I'll sit back down.
  4. If it were up to some posters on here, the Orioles would have a payroll of... checks notes... 26 dollars. One dollar per player. I am seriously convinced of this. LeT tHe OtHeR tEaMs sPeNd MoNeY!
  5. I think a lot of us did... the Orioles have an absurdly low payroll, Bassitt was a good fit for a young rotation, and only got three years. But what do we know?
  6. LOL - great, so the Jays might get both Bassitt and Lopez. While the Orioles sit on their hands looking like idiots (as usual).
  7. I think Elias said what he really thought/hoped ownership would let him do, and had to backtrack when the Angeloses called him into their office to say, um, actually, we don't want to spend any of our money on improving the team via free agency.
  8. I really blame the Angeloses a lot more than I blame Elias, but I agree with your post.
  9. 100% Gibson for Lyles is essentially a lateral move. How about actually trying to improve, instead of standing pat for once?
  10. Chicken or the egg? Attendance goes up when you stop sucking, not the other way around (I know you know that).
  11. Eovaldi and/or Lopez at this point, or it will be more pathetic offseason failures for this team.
  12. Pathetically cheap if they really cannot afford anything over $10M. Shows nothing has changed with this awful ownership.
  13. Lot of money, but that's what it takes in this market. Got him for 3 years. What, exactly, are the Orioles waiting for?
  14. Would not have paid Manea that. Still holding out (potentially false) hope for Eovaldi or Bassitt. Or maybe a trade for Lopez once the trade market heats up.
  15. Great post. Without thinking about it too much, I'd say Abreu, Senga, Quintana and perhaps Josh Bell and Verlander.
  16. Great post. I agree on all except Hays, who I think kind of is what he is at this point. I'd give him an E.
  17. You mean last season? We weren't trying to sign anyone then. That's from March 2022.
  18. Ew lol. You might be right though. I am hoping for Bassitt or Eovaldi on a miracle short term deal and Conforto/Brantely on a 1 or 2 year deal.
  19. Gotta hand it to him, he's got a lot of chutzpah. No way this is true, of course, but this guy just keeps on going.
  20. Fair points. I'm sure Eovaldi and Bassitt would prefer more years as they are possibly looking at their last "big" contract. I could stomach three years for either one at $18-20M per season; I wonder what the multi-year offers are that Elias keeps talking about.
  21. I agree. From an offensive standpoint, I think Brantley at 2 years $26-32 is a worthwhile investment as a DH and occasional left fielder. From the pitching side of things, it is definitely less clear, though perhaps you can convince Eovaldi/Bassitt to sign a 2 year deal (likely would take three) at a higher AAV.
  22. End of the day, this isn't a terrible strategy. It's frustrating because we as fans want to see the team bring in good players who likely require longer commitments. But if they can, for instance, sign Bassitt for 3 years 60 or so, and Brantley for one or two years at $12-15M per season, that would be a fine offseason.
  23. Not penniless. But the Angeloses deserve to keep their money and cry poor that we cannot afford any upgrades on the free agent market.
