  1. One year deal. Fits the Orioles' desire of not wanting to commit to a pitcher for too long. Maybe they just weren't interested (even though they met with him via Zoom a few weeks ago) - will be interesting to see the number. My guess is 1 year 16M.
  2. Just sign Eovaldi already.
  3. Wait to see the contract, but overall I am fine with this. Just don't understand what we are actually doing, if the plan was to add a starter...
  4. Right. The goal always has been-or should be-to have home grown players and supplement the team with free agency and trades once the team was ready to compete. The team is ready to compete, and the Orioles should be adding players to fill the final holes. It is frustrating that they do not seem motivated to do that.
  5. Yup. I had some interest in Quintana for the price he got, now that ship has sailed, it should be about getting talent and upside. Eovaldi has both, even if he could also struggle during the deal. Not every contract has to be a Chris Davis mistake, despite what some people think on here. You can be smart in FA.
  6. I agree. I would love Rodon, but seven years at that type of money for a pitcher with his injury history is nuts. Even 5 years is a bit worrisome. I am still holding out hope the Orioles can snag Eovaldi on a three year deal once Rodon has signed.

  8. Very interesting article, thanks for sharing. Amusing how there are no Red Sox, but I guess considering the state of their system, it makes sense. Interesting that Devers is 26, probably just missed the cut.
  9. Yeah, Toronto is pretty loaded with young talent. If/when they trade Kirk, Moreno is right there waiting to take over. Will be interesting to see if/when Toronto tries to extend Vlad and Bichette.
  10. Of course. But some will say tHe OrIoLeS oNlY sPeNt $10M sO tHeY aRe ThE rEaL wInNeRs
  11. This is true. I remember no one else was after Cobb or Ubaldo when we signed them. Though, apparently ,there were other suitors for Gibson...
  12. I read it as the Padres were a finalist for Bassitt.
  13. Wonder if the Orioles were a "finalist."
  14. Don't really want Thor, but here's an update from Heyman. I would think the O's are one of the four.
  15. That's where we disagree. But it's not worth getting into it any further.
  16. Right. There is no good reason you cannot do both to build a good team.
  17. Somewhere, certain OH posters are breathing a sigh of relief that the Orioles did not spend money. Best the owners keep the money for themselves instead of investing it on players that can help the Orioles.
  18. Don't know a ton about him, but seems like a good deal for SF. Wonder if the Orioles were even in on him.
  19. By media, I meant the local media. Roch et al. Yes, Olney will have at it.
  20. Ownership deserves significant criticism if, by the end of the offseason, we are looking at Gibson as the most significant acquisition. I am willing to give them more time since it is only December 13, but the media needs to (if won't) call out ownership for their pathetic unwillingness to loosen the purse strings just a little to supplement this young core into a legitimate contender.
  21. Wander is interesting... former number one prospect with tons of potential. Manoah Bichette and McClanahan having more MLB success maybe put them over the top, at least for now.
  22. Can't disagree with anything here. These are the facts, unfortunately. Bradish looked great in spurts, and he's the closest thing besides GROD and Hall to an impact pitcher, but the team has no one else they can count on as an impact starter. Kremer may be fine as an average to slightly above average starter, but that's it
  23. Cool. Let's all enjoy everyone else sign good baseball players, while we hope that our non-proven players can be just as good, because owknows doesn't want to spend money.
